2014 Girls' Youth South American Volleyball Championship
The 2014 Girls' Youth South American Volleyball Championship was the 19th edition of the tournament, organised by South America's governing volleyball body, the Confederación Sudamericana de Voleibol (CSV). Brazil girls won their 15th title in the Championship. The top three teams; Brazil, Argentina and Peru, qualified to the 2015 Youth World Championship. Competing nations Competition format The 2014 Girls' Youth South American Volleyball Championship consisted of a single round-robin pool between the six teams, the champion was determined from the ranking after the round. Tarapoto
Tarapoto is a commercial hub town in the San Martín Province of the Department of San Martín of northern Peru. It is an hour by plane from Lima, in the high jungle plateau to the east of what is known as the ''selva baja'' (low jungle). Although Moyobamba is the capital of the region, Tarapoto is the region's largest city and is linked to the Upper Amazon and the historic city of Yurimaguas by a relatively well-maintained transandean highway, paved in 2008–9. Tarapoto is approximately above sea level on the high jungle plateau, also called the cloud forest. It was founded in 1782 by Baltasar Jaime Martínez Compañón. The Confederación Sudamericana de Voleibol (CSV) (Portuguese: ) is the continental governing body for the sports of volleyball in South America. Its headquarters is located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Profile The CSV's origins are still under dispute. Some argue it was founded in Buenos Aires, Argentina on February 12, 1946; some, that it was founded in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on July 3 of the same year. Either way, it was formed even before the FIVB itself, and stands as the oldest of all volleyball continental confederations.
