2014 European Men's Handball Championship Qualification
This article describes the qualification for the 2014 European Men's Handball Championship. Qualification system Seeding The draw for the qualification round was held on the 27 March 2012 at the EHF headquarters, in Vienna, Austria. Denmark as host nation and ( defending champion), was directly qualified. 39 teams had registered for participation. 38 teams compete for 15 places at the final tournament in 2 distinct Qualification Phases. In each phase, the teams were divided into several pots according to their positions in the EHF National Team Ranking. Seeding for Qualification Phase 1 Qualification Phase 1 The games were played in a mini-tournament, hosted by one country. The group winners and the two best second-ranked teams advanced to the second phase. 2014 European Men's Handball Championship
The 2014 EHF European Men's Handball Championship was the 11th edition of the tournament and held in Denmark from 12–26 January. Hungary/Croatia (jointly) were the other applicants for the championship. Denmark was awarded the championship on the European Handball Federation, EHF Congress in Copenhagen 25 September 2010 with 24 votes. Hungary/Croatia got 22 votes. Denmark men's national handball team, Denmark was automatically qualified as hosting nation, and as defending champions as well. After the final, at total of 316,390 spectators had visited the stadiums. An all time EHF record. France men's national handball team, France won their third title after defeating Denmark 41–32 in the final. Venues Referees On 23 October 2013, 12 couples were announced in Vienna. Michele Skatar (born December 30, 1985) is a Croatian naturalized Italian handball player, currently free agent, runner-up in the EHF Cup (2013). Skatar played for professional teams in Croatia, Italy, Germany and France. At international level, he represented the Italian national team on 141 occasions, scoring 589 goals. Dionysos ( el, Διόνυσος) is a north suburb of Athens and a municipality in northeastern Attica, Greece. The seat of the municipality is the town Agios Stefanos. Geography Dionysos is situated on the northeastern slopes of the forested Penteliko Mountains. It is 5 km south of Agios Stefanos, 9 km west of Nea Makri, on the Aegean Sea coast, and 18 km northeast of Athens city centre. Christopher Mohr (born 12 January 1990, Frankfurt am Main) is a British handball player. At the 2012 Summer Olympics he competed with the Great Britain men's national handball team in the men's tournament. Career Mohr is half Scottish. in 2009, Mohr played club handball for TUSEM Essen in the Handball-Bundesliga alongside five other British players. He prepared for the Olympics at a training camp in Denmark, whilst also working in a bakery. Steven James Larsson (born 1 May 1981) is a British handball player. He was born in Scarborough in North Yorkshire but moved to Linköping in Sweden as a youngster. He was eligible to compete for Sweden, Norway and Great Britain on a national level and opted for the country of his father. He played club handball in Norway and Switzerland.
