3000 Metre Steeplechase
The 3000 metres steeplechase or 3000-meter steeplechase (usually abbreviated as ) is the most common distance for the steeplechase in track and field. It is an obstacle race over the distance of the 3000 metres, which derives its name from the horse racing steeplechase. Katarzyna Kowalska (born 7 April 1985 in Lipno) is a Polish long-distance runner who specialises in the 3000 metres steeplechase. She represented Poland at the 2008 Olympic Games and 2012 Olympic Games and reached the final of the 2009 World Championships in Athletics. Fabienne Schlumpf (born 17 November 1990) is a Swiss athlete specialising in the 3000 metres steeplechase, and later, marathon running. She won the silver medal at the 2018 European Championships. In 2020, she competed in the women's half marathon at the 2020 World Athletics Half Marathon Championships held in Gdynia, Poland. Her personal best of 9:37.81 is the former national record, since beaten by Chiara Scherrer in 2022.
