2014 Belfast City Council Election
Elections to Belfast City Council were held on 22 May 2014 – on the same day as other local government elections in Northern Ireland – as part of the process of local government reform provided for in the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 2014. The councils elected in the 2014 local elections across Northern Ireland operated in shadow form for one year, with the 26 councils which they replaced existing in parallel. The local government reorganisation and electoral administration is founded by the Local Government Bill. This reform saw the Belfast City Council area expand from 51 to 60 wards. Expansion saw some areas along the western, southern and eastern fringes of Belfast incorporated into the city, with a total of 53,000 additional residents and 21,000 households transferred from bordering council areas. A councillor is an elected representative for a local government council in some countries. Canada Due to the control that the provinces have over their municipal governments, terms that councillors serve vary from province to province. Christopher Stalford
Christopher David Matthew Stalford (17 January 1983 – 19 February 2022) was a Northern Irish politician who was a Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for South Belfast from the 2016 election until his death in 2022. Biography Stalford was born in the Annadale Flats in south Belfast, on 17 January 1983. He studied nearby at Wellington College Belfast and Queen's University Belfast. After graduation he worked in the European office of Jim Allister three days a week, and the office of Peter Weir two days a week. He then moved to the DUP press office for six years and then onto the policy unit. Paula Bradshaw
Paula Jane Bradshaw (born 1 November 1972) is an Alliance Party of Northern Ireland politician. She has been a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for South Belfast since the 2016 election. Early life and career Bradshaw attended Whiteabbey Primary School and then Belfast High School. She subsequently completed a degree in European Business at Ulster University at Coleraine, before returning to study law and government part-time at the Jordanstown campus. Following her graduation, Bradshaw spent a year in Sheffield working in market research, before returning to work for the South Belfast Traders Association. After three years, she took a position as an economic development officer with the South Belfast Partnership Board. Claire Aisling Hanna (born 19 June 1980) is an Irish Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) politician from Northern Ireland. Balmoral (District Electoral Area)
Balmoral (from the gle, Baile Mhoireil) is the most southern of ten district electoral areas (DEA) in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The district elects five members to Belfast City Council and contains the wards of Belvoir; Finaghy; Malone; Musgrave; Windsor; and Upper Malone. Balmoral, along with neighbouring Botanic, forms the greater part of the Belfast South constituencies for the Northern Ireland Assembly and UK Parliament.
