2014 Atlanta Dream Season
The 2014 WNBA season is the 7th season for the Atlanta Dream of the Women's National Basketball Association. This is also the first season the Dream has finished first in the East. In the last game of the Eastern Semis, the Dream had a 16-point lead at the end of the 3rd quarter, but unfortunately gave the other team the lead and lost 81-80. Michael Cooper
Michael Jerome Cooper (born April 15, 1956) is an American basketball coach and former player who is the boys varsity coach at Culver City High School. He played for the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association (NBA), winning five NBA championships with the Lakers during their Showtime era. He was an eight-time selection to the NBA All-Defensive Team, including five times on the first team. He was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 1987. Cooper's previous coaching jobs include leading the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) to two championships and the Albuquerque Thunderbirds to one NBA G League title. 2015 WNBA Draft
The 2015 WNBA draft was the league's draft for the 2015 WNBA season. The Seattle Storm picked first. This year's draft was unusual in that two players with remaining college eligibility declared for the draft—Jewell Loyd of Notre Dame, who had one year of eligibility remaining, and Amanda Zahui B. of Minnesota, with two years remaining. Both players were draft-eligible by virtue of their births in 1993; under current draft rules, players who turn 22 in the calendar year of the draft can declare themselves eligible even if they have not completed college eligibility. Before this season, only two players with remaining college eligibility had ever entered the WNBA draft, and only one of these did so before her fourth college season (Kelsey Bone in 2012). Tiffany Kiara Hayes (born September 20, 1989) is an American-Azerbaijani professional basketball player for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Hayes played college basketball for the Connecticut Huskies, playing for the 2009 and 2010 NCAA National Champions. Early life Hayes was born September 20, 1989 in Fort Polk, a town in western Louisiana to Dorothy and Renard Hayes. Rebekah Gardner
Rebekah Gardner (born July 9, 1990) is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Chicago Sky in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). She played college basketball at UCLA. College career During her first three years at UCLA, Gardner was mainly a role player off the bench for the Bruins. Her freshman season Gardner scored a then career-high 13 points over USC. During her sophomore year, Gardner made 7 starts for the Bruins and then increased her career-high in points to 19 against Washington State. Nádia Gomes Colhado (born February 25, 1989) is a Brazilian professional basketball player who currently plays for Gernika KESB of Spain's Liga Femenina de Baloncesto. She has competed for the Brazil women's national basketball team at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics, the 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women, and FIBA Americas tournaments. Jacki Gemelos
Jacqueline Ann Gemelos (Greek: Τζάκι Γέμελου; born November 22, 1988) is an American-Greek former professional basketball player and coach. Early life and college career Born and raised in Stockton, California, Jacqueline Ann Gemelos graduated from St. Mary's High School in 2006. Gemelos was widely regarded as the most recruited player in her high school class, but she suffered five knee injuries during her high school and college career. At USC, Gemelos missed the 2006–07 through 2008–09 seasons due to injuries, before making her collegiate debut on February 4, 2010, at Cal and had eight points, five rebounds, and five assists. Samantha Prahalis (born January 23, 1990 in Commack, New York) is an American basketball player who last played for the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA and currently for the Sardinian team CUS Cagliari. She went to Commack High School and played collegiately for Ohio State. USA Basketball Prahalis was a member of the USA Women's U18 team which won the gold medal at the FIBA Americas Championship in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The event was held in July 2008, when the USA team defeated host Argentina to win the championship. Prahalis helped the team win all five games, scoring 6.2 points per game. Matee Ajavon (born May 7, 1986) is a Liberian American basketball player. A 5'8" guard, Ajavon was chosen by the Houston Comets as the fifth overall draft pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft. Early life As a child, Ajavon immigrated to the United States with her family from Monrovia, Liberia. High school Ajavon graduated from Malcolm X Shabazz High School in Newark, New Jersey.
