The 2014 Argentine Primera División, Torneo de Transición or Torneo Doctor Ramón Carrillo was the 124th season of top-flight professional football in Argentina. The season was scheduled to start on August 1, 2014 but was postponed after the death of Julio Grondona, president of the Argentine Football Association, AFA on July 30. Finally, it began on August 8, 2014 and ended on December 14, 2014. Originally the last match of the tournament was scheduled on December 7 but as River Plate played the finals of the 2014 Copa Sudamericana the matches Racing-Godoy Cruz and River Plate-Quilmes were played on December 14. Lucas Pratto
Lucas David Pratto (; born 4 June 1988) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a striker for Argentine Primera División club Vélez Sarsfield. Pratto has been described as possessing unusual technique and ball control for a player of strong physique. His first professional club was Boca Juniors, by whom he was loaned to Argentine sides Tigre and Unión, Norway's Lyn and Chile's Universidad Católica. His performances for the latter prompted a transfer to Italian club Genoa, shortly after which he joined Vélez Sarsfield, first on loan and then permanently, when he was elected Argentina's 2014 Footballer of the Year. Club Atlético Banfield is an Argentine sports club based in the Banfield district of Greater Buenos Aires. It was founded on 21 January 1896, by the British–origin inhabitants of that city (mostly English, and some Scots and Irish). The 2013–14 Primera B Nacional was the 28th season of professional Argentine second division. For this season, the total teams was raised to 22; the champion, runner-up and winner of the tiebreaker playoff were promoted to Primera División. Julio Humberto Grondona (September 18, 1931 – July 30, 2014) was an Argentine football executive. He served as president of the Argentine Football Association (''Asociación del Fútbol Argentino'') from 1979 until his death in 2014. He also served as Senior Vice-President of FIFA (''Fédération Internationale de Football Association'').
