1500 Metres
The 1500 metres or 1,500-metre run (typically pronounced 'fifteen-hundred metres') is the foremost middle distance track event in athletics. The distance has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 and the World Championships in Athletics since 1983. It is equivalent to 1.5 kilometers or approximately  miles. The event is closely associated with its slightly longer cousin, the mile race, from which it derives its nickname "the metric mile". The demands of the race are similar to that of the 800 metres, but with a slightly higher emphasis on aerobic endurance and a slightly lower sprint speed requirement. The 1500 metre race is predominantly aerobic, but anaerobic conditioning is also required. Selah Jepleting Busienei
Selah Jepleting Busienei (born 27 December 1991) is a Kenyan female middle-distance runner who mainly runs in the 1500 metres. She holds a personal best of 4:06.28 minutes for that event. Born in Uasin Gishu County, she made her first major appearance at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, reaching the 1500 m final. She was also a finalist at that year's African Championships. She closed the year with a win at the Shoe4Africa 5km. The following year she was selected for Kenya's distance medley relay team at the 2015 IAAF World Relays and (running alongside Joy Nakhumicha Sakari, Sylivia Chematui Chesebe, and Virginia Nyambura Nganga) she helped set an African and Commonwealth record for the event at 10:43.35 minutes for the silver medal behind the American women. Seltana Aït Hammou (Arabic: سلطانة آيت حمو; born 21 May 1980) is a Moroccan middle-distance runner who specialises in the 800 metres. She represented her country at the 2004 Summer Olympics and has also competed at the World Championships in Athletics and the IAAF World Indoor Championships. She has also been the gold medallist at number of major events including the 2001 Mediterranean Games, the 2003 Military World Games, the 2007 Pan Arab Games and the 2009 Jeux de la Francophonie. 2014 African Championships In Athletics
The 2014 African Championships in Athletics was held in Marrakech, Morocco from 10 to 14 August 2014. The competition was the 19th edition of Africa senior championships. The competition served as preparation to African athletes for the next continental cup which is planned to hold on 13 and 14 September 2014 in Marrakech. It was the second time that Morocco had hosted the event. Habiba Ghribi
Habiba Ghribi () (born 9 April 1984) is a Tunisian middle- and long-distance runner who specialises in the 3000 metres steeplechase. She won the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics, giving her country its first Olympic medal by a woman. She is also the Tunisian record holder in the event, having run 9:05.36 at the Memorial van Damme in Brussels in September 2015.
