2013–14 In Spanish Football
The 2013–14 season was the 110th season of competitive football in Spain. It started officially 1 July 2013 and ended 30 June 2014. Competitions dates La Liga and Segunda División started 17 and 16 August respectively. All competitions stopped during the Christmas holidays between 23 December 2013 and 2 January 2014. 2013–14 La Liga
The 2013–14 La Liga season (known as the ''Liga BBVA'' for sponsorship reasons) was the 83rd since its establishment. Matchdays were drawn on 9 July 2013. The season began on 17 August 2013 and concluded on 18 May 2014; all top-flight European leagues ended earlier than the previous season due to the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup. Elche, Villarreal and Almería competed in La Liga this season after being promoted from the second tier. Atlético Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona traded the lead several times throughout the season. Entering the final weekend of play, Atlético Madrid were three points ahead of 2013 champions Barcelona. However, with the two teams facing off, Barcelona could claim the title with a win. 2014 Copa De La Reina De Fútbol
The 2014 Copa de la Reina de Fútbol was the 32nd edition of the Spanish women's football national cup. It ran from 18 May to 22 June 2014, and was contested by the best eight teams in the 2013–14 Spanish Championship. The 2012–13 La Liga season (known as the ''Liga BBVA'' for sponsorship reasons) was the 82nd since its establishment. The campaign began on 18 August 2012, and concluded on 1 June 2013. FC Barcelona, Barcelona won the league for a 22nd time, after leading the league the entire season and amassing 100 points, equalling Real Madrid CF, Real Madrid's points record from the 2011–12 La Liga, previous season. Mikel Labaka Zurriarain (born 10 August 1980) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a central defender. He is currently assistant manager of Real Sociedad.
