Ferrell Center
The Paul J. Meyer Arena, which is part of the Ferrell Center, is an arena in Waco, Texas. Built in 1988 and located adjacent to the Brazos River, it is home to the Baylor University Bears basketball and volleyball teams. It is named for Charles R. Ferrell, a Baylor student and legacy who died in 1967, and whose family's estate was a major benefactor of the arena. The building replaced the Heart O' Texas Coliseum as the school's primary indoor athletic facility. Dimensions and layout The brick and concrete building is capped by a round, gold-plated dome across and above the playing surface at its apex. It contains 41 rows of seats, seven of which can be retracted for other events. The 2013–14 Northwestern State Lady Demons basketball team represented Northwestern State University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The 2013–14 Lamar Lady Cardinals basketball team represented Lamar University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Lady Cardinals, led by first year head coach Robin Harmony, played their home games at the Montagne Center and are members of the Southland Conference. The Lady Cardinals finished the season tied for the Southland Conference regular season championship with Stephen F. Austin. The Lady Cardinals were the Number One seed in the conference tournament because of the conference tie-breaker. After falling to Northwestern Louisiana in the Conference tournament final game, the Lady Cardinals received and invitation to the WNIT. Longhorn Network (LHN) is an American regional sports network owned as a joint venture between The University of Texas at Austin, ESPN and Learfield (formerly IMG College), and is operated by ESPN (itself owned jointly by The Walt Disney Company and the Hearst Communications). The network, which launched on August 26, 2011, focuses on the Texas Longhorns varsity sports teams of the University of Texas at Austin. Longhorn Network was announced by ESPN on January 19, 2011. The 2013–14 Texas Longhorns women's basketball team will represent the University of Texas at Austin in the 2013–14 NCAA Division I women's basketball season, 2013–14 college basketball season. It will be head coach Karen Aston, Karen Aston's second season at Texas. The Longhorns were members of the Big 12 Conference and will play their home games at the Frank Erwin Center. They finished the season with a record of 22–12 overall, 11–7 in Big 12 play for a tie for a third-place finish. They lost in the semifinals of the 2014 Big 12 Women's Basketball Tournament to West Virginia.
