2013–14 Samford Bulldogs Basketball Team
The 2013–14 Samford Bulldogs basketball team represented Samford University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs, led by second year head coach Bennie Seltzer, played their home games at the Pete Hanna Center and were members of the Southern Conference. They finished the season 13–20, 6–10 in SoCon play to finish in a tie for seventh place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the SoCon tournament where they lost to Davidson. After only two seasons and a record of 24–41, head coach Bennie Seltzer was fired. The main reason given for his dismissal was the transfer of 14 players in his two seasons as head coach. Bennie Seltzer
Bennie Seltzer (born January 20, 1971) is an American college basketball coach who most recently served as the interim head coach of the Evansville Purple Aces team following the firing of Walter McCarty. Seltzer is the former head coach of the Samford Bulldogs, a position to which he was hired on April 5, 2012. Previously, he was hired in April 2008 by new Indiana Hoosiers head coach Tom Crean, who brought him and fellow assistant Tim Buckley over from his staff at Marquette. Following his dismissal from Samford, Seltzer was hired by Crean to be Indiana's Director of Player Performance. Career Seltzer was the former assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma from 1997 to 2006 under head coach Kelvin Sampson. Sampson also coached Seltzer during his playing days at Washington State. The Sooners went to the NCAA tournament eight times in Seltzer's nine seasons on the staff. The 2013–14 Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball team represented Indiana University in the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Their head coach was Tom Crean, in his sixth season with the Hoosiers. The team played its home games at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana, and was a member of the Big Ten Conference. They finished the season 17–15, 7–11 in Big Ten play to finish in a tie for eighth place. They lost in the first round of the Big Ten tournament to Illinois. College Park Center (CPC) is an indoor, multi-purpose arena on The University of Texas at Arlington campus in Arlington, Texas, United States. It seats up to 7,000 spectators. Its primary tenant is the Mavericks athletic department including the university's basketball and volleyball teams. A secondary tenant during the summer season is the WNBA's Dallas Wings. Lenoir City is a suburban city in Loudon County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 10,117 at the 2020 Census.
