2013–14 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Rankings
Two human polls make up the 2013–14 NCAA Division I women's basketball rankings, the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll, in addition to various publications' preseason polls. Legend AP Poll This poll is compiled by sportswriters across the nation. In Division I men's and women's college basketball, the AP Poll is largely just a tool to compare schools throughout the season and spark debate, as it has no bearing on postseason play. USA Today Coaches Poll The Coaches Poll is the second oldest poll still in use after the AP Poll. It is compiled by a rotating group of 32 college Division I head coaches. The Poll operates by Borda count. Each voting member ranks teams from 1 to 25. Each team then receives points for their ranking in reverse order: Number 1 earns 25 points, number 2 earns 24 points, and so forth. 2013–14 DePaul Blue Demons Women's Basketball Team
The 2013–14 DePaul Blue Demons women's basketball team represents DePaul University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Blue Demons, led by twenty eighth year head coach Doug Bruno, played their home games at the Allstate Arena and the McGrath-Phillips Arena. They are members of the new Big East Conference. In their first season in the Big East, the Blue Demons went 27-5, 15-3 in conference play, to earn the 1 seed in the Big East tournament. The Blue Demons would host all games of the Tournament and walk away with the 2014 tournament title. 2013–14 Gonzaga Bulldogs Women's Basketball Team
The 2013–14 Gonzaga Bulldogs women's basketball team represents Gonzaga University in the 2013–14 college basketball season. The Bulldogs (also informally referred to as the "Zags"), members of the West Coast Conference, were led by head coach Kelly Graves, in his 14th, and final season at the school. The Zags played most of their home games at the McCarthey Athletic Center on the university campus in Spokane, Washington. The Zags would win both the regular and tournament season titles and finish ranked 18th in the AP Poll with a 29–5 record. The Zags were upset in the 1st Round of the NCAA Tournament to end their season. After the season, Kelly Graves would be hired as the new head coach at Oregon, and Lisa Fortier would be named the new Zags head coach.
