2013–14 ISU Speed Skating World Cup – World Cup 4 – Women's 500 Metres
The women's 500 metres races of the 2013–14 ISU Speed Skating World Cup 4, arranged in Sportforum Hohenschönhausen, in Berlin, Germany, were held on 6 and 7 December 2013. In race one, Lee Sang-hwa of South Korea extended her suite of victories from the start of the season, while Olga Fatkulina of Russia came second, and Wang Beixing of China came third. Vanessa Bittner of Austria won the Division B race. Lee didn't skate in race two. In her absence, Fatkulina and Wang both advanced one place on the podium, taking the gold and silver medals, while Heather Richardson of the United States, who was in fourth place in race one, made it to the podium, taking the bronze. 2013–14 ISU Speed Skating World Cup – World Cup 4
The fourth competition weekend of the 2013–14 ISU Speed Skating World Cup was held in Sportforum Hohenschönhausen in Berlin, Germany, from Friday, 6 December, until Sunday, 8 December 2013. There were no new world records this weekend, but the Dutch women's team, comprised by Marrit Leenstra, Jorien ter Mors and Ireen Wüst, set a new low-altitude team pursuit record of 2:58.19, as they skated the fastest time recorded on any rink outside Calgary and Salt Lake City. Sportforum Hohenschönhausen
Sportforum Hohenschönhausen is a multi-purpose sports complex in the locality of Alt-Hohenschönhausen of the borough of Lichtenberg in Berlin. The Sportforum was named Dynamo-Sportforum during the East German era. Sportforum Hohenschönhausen covers an area between 45 and 50 hectares, and comprises 35 sports facilities, including three ice rinks, two athletics halls, a football stadium, as well as eight other halls and open spaces for various sports. Development of the Dynamo-Sportforum began in 1954. Lee Sang-hwa
Lee Sang-hwa (Korean: 이상화, Hanja: 李相花, ; born 25 February 1989) is a South Korean retired speed skater who specialises in the sprint distances. She is a two-time Olympic champion in 500 metres (2010 and 2014) and the 2010 World Sprint champion. She is the current world record holder in women's 500 metres with the time of 36.36 seconds set in Salt Lake City on 16 November 2013, and also holds the South Korean record on 1000 metres. She has also won three World Championships medals in 500 metres, and has placed in the top three in World Cup events four times in this distance. Her first World Cup victory, however, came on the non-Olympic distance 100 metres. Olga Aleksandrovna Fatkulina (russian: Ольга Александровна Фаткулина; born 23 January 1990) is a Russian long-track speed skater. She competed for Russia at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics in the women's 500 m and 1000 m. Wang Beixing
Wang Beixing (; born 10 March 1985) is a Chinese long track speed skater, specializing in short distances (500 m and 1000 m). Wang first competed in 2003. However, her breakthrough came in the 2004–05 season, winning several times in the World Cup B-group and competing in the A-group. At the World Single Distance Championships she surprisingly won silver. She appeared to be a medal candidate at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. However, here she disappointed with a 7th place at the 500 m and a 29th at the 1000 m. Heather Bergsma (''née'' Richardson; born March 20, 1989) is an American former speed skater who competed between 2006 and 2020. Career Bergsma is a native of North Carolina. She represented the United States at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where she finished 6th in 500 metres, 9th in the 1000 metres, and 16th in the 1500 metres. At the 2011 World Single Distance Championships in Inzell, Germany, she won a bronze medal in the 1000 metres. She also placed 8th in the 500 metres, and was part of the team pursuit team that finished in 8th place.
