2013–14 Butler Bulldogs Men's Basketball Team
The 2013–14 Butler Bulldogs men's basketball team represented Butler University in the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Their head coach was Brandon Miller; on July 3, 2013, previous head coach Brad Stevens accepted the newly vacant Boston Celtics head coaching position in the National Basketball Association. The Bulldogs played their home games at Hinkle Fieldhouse, which has a capacity of approximately 10,000. This was the first year that Butler competed in the Big East Conference, as they moved from the Atlantic 10 Conference following the 2012–13 season. The Bulldogs started the season off great and were cruising into their inaugural Big East conference games. However, once they started playing their in-conference games, they fell fast. Many of the games were characterized by leads late in the second half that the Bulldogs couldn't sustain and resulted as losses in either the last minute or overtime. Brandon Miller (basketball, Born 1979)
Brandon Miller (born May 21, 1979) is an American basketball coach, who previously played college basketball at Southwest Missouri State and Butler. Miller served as Butler's head coach for one season in 2013–14 before requesting a medical leave of absence in October 2014. On January 2, 2015, Butler University announced that Miller would not be returning following his university-approved medical leave and that interim coach Chris Holtmann had been named the Bulldogs head coach. Born in New Castle, Indiana, Miller played point guard for New Castle Chrysler High School before beginning his college career at Southwest Missouri State. When head coach Steve Alford left after Miller's freshman year, he transferred to Butler. He started all 97 games over the next three years, finishing in the school's all-time top five in both made 3-point field goals and assists. Mater Dei High School is a private, Catholic, co-educational secondary school in Santa Ana, California. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange. Mater Dei is known for its strong sports programs, especially in football, and for its multiple graduates who have won the Heisman Trophy. New Castle Chrysler High School
New Castle High School is a public high school in New Castle, Indiana whose name is commonly abbreviated to NCHS. It is part of the New Castle Community School Corporation and has an enrollment of approximately 1,200 students. NCHS is the largest high school in Henry County. The present high school originated from the New Castle Academy in 1870. In 1895, New Castle High School was constructed. Because of its distinctive appearance, the building became known as "The Castle."
