2013 Virginia Cavaliers Baseball Team
The 2013 Virginia Cavaliers baseball team represented the University of Virginia in the 2013 NCAA Division I baseball season. Head Coach Brian O'Connor is in his 10th year coaching the Cavaliers. Brian O'Connor (baseball Coach)
Brian Patrick O'Connor (born April 20, 1971) is the head baseball coach of the Virginia Cavaliers. Previously serving as an Associate Head Coach at Notre Dame, he was hired on July 8, 2003, to replace the retiring Dennis Womack (who moved on to assistant athletic director of facilities management and operations). O'Connor has taken the Virginia baseball team to fourteen NCAA baseball tournaments during his 15 seasons in Charlottesville, including the 2009 College World Series, the first in school history; the 2011 College World Series, as the No. 1 national seed; the 2014 College World Series, as the No. 3 national seed; and the 2015 College World Series, which they won and became National Champions for the first time in school history. Catcher is a Baseball positions, position in baseball and softball. When a Batter (baseball), batter takes their at bat, turn to hit, the catcher crouches behind home plate, in front of the (home plate, home) Umpire (baseball), umpire, and receives the ball from the pitcher. In addition to this primary duty, the catcher is also called upon to master many other skills in order to field the position well. The role of the catcher is similar to that of the wicket-keeper in cricket. Positioned behind home plate and facing toward the outfield, the catcher can see the whole field, and is therefore in the best position to direct and lead the other players in a defensive play. Al Worthington Stadium was a baseball venue on the campus of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, United States. It was home to the Liberty Flames of the Division I Big South Conference. Opened in 1979, the facility was named for former Liberty baseball coach and athletic director Al Worthington. It had a capacity of 2,500 spectators. 2013 NC State Wolfpack Baseball Team
The 2013 NC State Wolfpack baseball team represented North Carolina State University in the 2013 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Wolfpack was coached by Elliott Avent, in his seventeenth season, and played their home games at Doak Field. The Wolfpack finished with 50 wins, the most in school history, against 16 losses overall, and 19–10 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, good for second place in the Atlantic Division. 2013 Clemson Tigers Baseball Team
The 2013 Clemson Tigers baseball team was the varsity intercollegiate baseball team representing Clemson University in the 2013 NCAA Division I baseball season. The Tigers competed in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and were led by twentieth-year head coach Jack Leggett. Clemson played its home games at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina. Clark–LeClair Stadium
Clark–LeClair Stadium is a baseball park located on the campus of East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. It is the home field of the East Carolina Pirates of the American Athletic Conference. The stadium was named after Pirate alumnus and contributor Bill Clark and former Pirates coach Keith LeClair. ECU's current head coach is Cliff Godwin. The stadium has 3,000 stadium bleacher seats, plus space for several thousand more spectators in "The Jungle." There are concession and restroom facilities at the stadium, plus a family picnic area. Amenities include the Pirate Club fundraising and hospitality suite and a private suite for the LeClair family. Mike Papi
Michael Joseph Papi (born September 19, 1992) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. Papi attended the University of Virginia, where he played college baseball for the Virginia Cavaliers. In his collegiate career, he was named an All-American. He played professionally in the Cleveland Indians organization. Career Papi attended Tunkhannock Area High School in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania. He played for the school's baseball team, competing in the Wyoming Valley Conference. With Tunkhannock, Papi was a member of two consecutive district champions, and his 2011 team reached the state championship. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim selected Papi in the 30th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft, but he opted not to sign with the Angels. Papi enrolled at the University of Virginia, and played college baseball for the Virginia Cavaliers baseball team.
