The 2013 Trinidad and Tobago Charity Shield (known as the ''Digicel Charity Shield'' for sponsorship reasons) was the second edition of the Charity Shield, which is a football match that opened the 2013–14 Pro League season. The match was played on 6 September 2013, between the winners of the previous season's TT Pro League and Pro Bowl competitions. The match was a rematch of the inaugural Charity Shield contested by the 2013 Pro Bowl winners, W Connection, and the champions of the 2012–13 Pro League, Defence Force. The ''Savonetta Boys'' secured the Charity Shield for the second consecutive year after defeating the ''Teteron Boys'' 4–2 at the Hasely Crawford Stadium. Silvio Spann
Silvio Spann (born 21 August 1981) is a Trinidad and Tobagonian footballer who played professionally in countries including Italy, Japan, Croatia and England. Spann is a midfielder. He is the son of Leroy Spann, former Trinidad and Tobago national team player who currently coaches a youth football team, the Middlesex Phantoms, in the MAPLE league in Massachusetts. Club career Spann has played in Italy, for Perugia and Sambenedettese. His move to Japan occurred after he failed to get a work permit in England, where Derby County and Crystal Palace were both interested in him. Spann's contract with Japanese club Yokohama FC finished just before the 2006 World Cup, forcing him to return home where he re-signed for W Connection. Couva is an urban town (48,858 in 2011 census) in west-central Trinidad, south of Port of Spain and Chaguanas and north of San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago, San Fernando and Point Fortin. A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead.
