Freestyle Swimming
Freestyle is a category of swimming competition, defined by the rules of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), in which competitors are subject to a few limited restrictions on their swimming stroke. Freestyle races are the most common of all swimming competitions, with distances beginning with 50 meters (50 yards) and reaching 1500 meters (1650 yards), also known as the mile. The term 'freestyle stroke' is sometimes used as a synonym for 'front crawl', as front crawl is the fastest surface swimming stroke. It is now the most common stroke used in freestyle competitions. Arjola Trimi
Arjola Trimi (born 15 March 1987) is an Italian Paralympic swimmer competing in S4 classification events. She competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, and 2020 Summer Paralympics, in Women's 4 × 50 mixed freestyle relay, winning a silver medal. She made her major international debut at the 2013 IPC Swimming World Championships in Montreal, where she won four medals. A year later she became European champion in her classification in the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle events. In 2015, she won her first World gold taking the 50m backstroke title at the World Games in Glasgow. Personal history Trimi was born in Tirana, Albania, her family is Albanian. Taylor Corry
Taylor Corry (born 31 January 1995) is an Australian S14 swimmer. At the 2012 Summer Paralympics, she won two silver medals. Personal Corry was born on 31 January 1995, and grew up in Anna Bay, New South Wales. She has an intellectual disability. She attended St Philips Cristian College, Port Stephens. Her older brother is Keiran Corry, who, like Taylor, he has represented Australia at the 2011 Global Games in swimming where he won three silver medals and one bronze. Bethany Charlotte Firth, (born 14 February 1996) is a Northern Irish swimmer. Since 2014 she has competed for Great Britain; previously, Firth had represented Ireland. A six time Paralympic gold medalist, she has won gold in her specialist event - the 100 metres backstroke - for both Ireland at the 2012 Summer Paralympics and Great Britain at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Paralympics. Jessica-Jane Applegate
Jessica-Jane Applegate MBE (born 22 August 1996) is a British Paralympic swimmer. Applegate competes in the S14 classification for swimmers with intellectual disabilities, mainly freestyle and backstroke preferring shorter distances. She qualified for the 2012 Summer Paralympics and on 2 September, Applegate won the gold setting a Paralympic record in the S14 200m freestyle. She was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2013 New Year Honours for services to swimming. Early life Applegate was born in 1996 in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. Inbal Pezaro ( he, ענבל פיזרו, born 26 March 1987) is an Israeli Paralympic swimmer. Biography Pezaro was born on Kibbutz Yizre'el. At birth she suffered from a complex with blood vessels at her spinal cord, which caused her to become paralyzed in her lower limbs. At the age of five she began practicing sports at the ILAN center in Haifa, progressing to compete in national championships only six years later. Swimming career From the age of 12 Pezaro had been competing in international swimming competitions. Following her exemption from military service with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), she volunteered to service and was certified as a swimming instructor. 2013 IPC Swimming World Championships
The 2013 IPC Swimming World Championships was an international swimming competition, the biggest meet for athletes with a disability since the 2012 Summer Paralympics. It was held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and lasted from 12 to 18 August. Around 530 athletes competed from 57 different countries. The event was held in the Parc Jean Drapeau Aquatic Complex located at the Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal. 172 events were contested with 43 new world records set. Venue The Championship was staged at the Parc Jean Drapeau Aquatic Complex in the Parc Jean-Drapeau located in the east of Montreal.
