2013 IIHF World Championship Division I
The 2013 IIHF World Championship Division I was a pair of international Ice hockey tournaments run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Group A contested in Budapest, Hungary and Group B contested in Donetsk, Ukraine, both running from 14 April to 20 April 2013. Divisions I A and I B represent the second and the third tier of the Ice Hockey World Championships. For the third consecutive year the two nations that had been demoted from the top level, were sent right back. In Group A Kazakhstan and Italy narrowly held off Hungary to achieve promotion, who lost for the first time in their history to South Korea. The Koreans also defeated Great Britain on the final day, relegating the British, and achieving a placement of 21st overall, their best ever finish. 2012 IIHF World Championship Division I
The 2012 IIHF World Championship Division I was an international Ice hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Group A was contested in Ljubljana, Slovenia and Group B was contested in Krynica, Poland with both tournaments running from 15–21 April 2012. In Group A both Austria and Slovenia were promoted back to the highest level after being relegated from there in 2011. Ukraine was relegated despite winning their final game against Japan. The Japanese, returning to play after a one-year absence, finished fourth attaining an overall placement of 20th. This is the highest they have placed since being relegated to this level in 2004 when the Asian qualifiers for the world championships ceased. In Group B the South Koreans defeated Poland on the final day to earn promotion to Group A. Konstantin Mikhailovich Romanov (russian: Константин Михайлович Романов; born March 14, 1985) is a Kazakhstani-Russian professional ice hockey winger who currently plays for Barys Astana of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Career Romanov began his career with Dynamo Moscow in 2004, and had 5 points in his rookie season. He set modest career highs with 6 goals and 12 points in 2005-06, a year after winning the league championship with Dynamo. He was signed by Barys Astana in 2009, but has seen limited ice time with the club, and appeared in only 19 games during the 2009-10 season. László Papp Budapest Sports Arena
The László Papp Budapest Sports Arena ( hu, Papp László Budapest Sportaréna), also known as Budapest Sports Arena or locally just Arena, is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Budapest, Hungary. It is the second biggest sports complex in the country after MVM Dome, which is also in the capital, and it is named after Hungarian boxer László Papp. The venue can hold up to 12,500 people in its largest concert configuration, up to 11,390 for boxing and 9,479 for ice hockey. It was built as a replacement for the Budapest Sports Hall ( hu, Budapest Sportcsarnok, or ''BS'' for short) which stood in the same place and was destroyed in a fire in December 1999. Konstantin Vladimirovich Pushkaryov (russian: Константин Владимирович Пушкарёв; born February 12, 1985) is a Kazakh professional ice hockey winger who is currently playing with HK Kurbads of the Latvian Hockey League (LAT). In May 2022, he became a Parimatch expert. Playing career Pushkaryov was drafted in the second round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Los Angeles Kings, but was traded to the Dallas Stars late in the 2006–07 NHL season in the deal involving former Kings captain Mattias Norström. Dmitri Sergeyevich Upper (russian: Дмитрий Серге́евич Уппер; born July 27, 1978) is a Kazakhstani former professional ice hockey center. He also holds Russian citizenship. Career Upper was selected by the New York Islanders in the 5th round (136th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, after scoring 20 points and 50 penalty minutes in his first season in the Russian Superleague with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. He was traded to Ak Bars Kazan midway through the 2000–01 season, and joined Spartak Moscow the following year. He had a career high 16 goals, as well as 76 penalty minutes in his first year with the club. He played four seasons with CSKA Moscow, scoring 27 points in 2005–06, before rejoining Spartak Moscow in 2007.
