2013 CONSUR Women's Sevens
The 2013 CONSUR Women's Sevens is the ninth edition of the CONSUR Women's Sevens and was the last qualifying tournament for the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens. The event was held on 23 and 24 February 2013 in Rio de Janeiro and it was for the last remaining World Cup spot. The 2012 CONSUR Women's Sevens was the eighth edition of the tournament and was held in Estádio da Gávea, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 10 to 11 March. Sudamérica Rugby Women's Sevens
The Sudamérica Rugby Women's Sevens (formerly known as the CONSUR Women's Sevens), is the regional championship for women's international rugby sevens in South America. It has been contested since 2004. The tournament is held over two days, typically on a weekend. It is sanctioned and sponsored by Sudamérica Rugby. The South America Women's Sevens Championship was first held in Venezuela in 2004. Since then, the regional 7s championships has periodically served as pre-qualifying competitions for the Rugby World Cup Sevens, the Pan American Games and the Olympic Games. 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens
The 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens was the sixth edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens. The tournament was held at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Russia. New Zealand won the tournament, defeating England 33–0 in the final. Attendance for the tournament was poor, with matches played in mostly empty stadiums. World Rugby, then known as the International Rugby Board (IRB), initially stated that the Rugby World Cup Sevens would be scrapped if rugby sevens were to be included in the Olympic programme for the 2016 Summer Olympics. As the International Olympic Committee voted for the sport's inclusion, this was thought likely to be the last edition of the tournament. The Estádio da Gávea ("''Gávea Stadium''", in English), also known as Estádio José Bastos Padilha is a football stadium, inaugurated on September 4, 1938, in the Lagoa neighborhood, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
