2013 BWF World Championships – Men's Doubles
The men's doubles tournament of the 2013 BWF World Championships (World Badminton Championships) was held from August 5 to 11. Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng were the defending champions. Tianhe Sports Center
Tianhe Stadium (), officially Tianhe Sports Centre Stadium (), is a multi-purpose stadium in Tianhe District, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. Ko Sung-hyun
Ko Sung-hyun (; ; born 21 May 1987) is a South Korean badminton player affiliated with Gimcheon City Hall. He is a former world number 1 both in the men's and mixed doubles. Ko is a BWF World Championships, BWF World Champion, two time Badminton Asia Championships, Badminton Asian Champion, and Badminton at the 2014 Asian Games – Men's team, Asian Games gold medalist. Tan Wee Kiong
Tan Wee Kiong (; born 21 May 1989) is a Malaysian badminton player in the doubles event. He had a partnership with Goh V Shem, which began at the 2014 Thomas Cup. Together, Tan and Goh won the gold medal in the men's doubles and the mixed team event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. They also won bronze at the 2014 Asian Games. In their Olympic debut at the 2016 Rio Olympics, they won the silver medal, becoming the first Malaysian pair to achieve such a feat since 1996. Hoon Thien How
Hoon Thien How (born 24 December 1986) is a Malaysian former badminton player who played in the men's doubles category. Currently, he is one of the assistant coach for Malaysia men's doubles national team. Career Hoon Thien How and Tan Boon Heong were the World Junior Champions in 2004. Their partnership continued until early 2006 when they won the silver medal at the 2006 Asian Badminton Championships. Shortly after, Tan was partnered with Koo Kien Keat and Hoon was briefly partnered with Chan Chong Ming and then, Ong Soon Hock. Rian Agung Saputro
Rian Agung Saputro (born 25 June 1990) is an Indonesian badminton player. He was partnered with Angga Pratama in men's doubles, but split after the 2014 Asian Games. Saputro was then partnered with Berry Angriawan. They debuted at the 2014 Hong Kong Super Series. They won their first Grand Prix Gold title at the 2015 Indonesian Masters. In 2016, he was paired with former Olympic gold medalist, Hendra Setiawan. Saputro was then paired with Setiawan's former partner, Mohammad Ahsan. Angga Pratama
Angga Pratama (born 12 May 1991) is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Jaya Raya Jakarta club. He competed in the men's doubles event in the international tournaments, and together with Ricky Karanda Suwardi, he won the 2015 Singapore Open, became his one and only BWF World Superseries title after beating Chinese pair Fu Haifeng and Zhang Nan by 21–15, 11–21, 21–14. Zhang Nan (badminton)
Zhang Nan (; born 1 March 1990) is a Chinese former professional badminton player who specializes in both men's and mixed doubles. He found much success in mixed doubles with his former partner Zhao Yunlei. They won gold in 2012 Summer Olympics, 3 golds in BWF World Championships in 2011, 2014 and 2015 and a gold at the 2014 Asian Games. Having won all major events as a pair, they are considered one of the most successful mixed doubles pairs of all time. Zhang Nan himself is considered to be one of the all-time greats of badminton. Chai Biao
Chai Biao (; born 10 October 1990) is a Chinese professional badminton player. Chai has concentrated on men's doubles for the majority of his senior career in badminton. His most successful partnership was with Hong Wei: together they reached the year end tournament BWF Superseries Finals in 2014 and 2015. As Hong has since retired, Chai's current partner in men's doubles is Wang Zekang. Career Chai was born in Yanfeng District of Hengyang City in 1990. At the age of 7, he learned badminton from the senior coach of the Badminton Institute in the City Sports School. Kenichi Hayakawa
is a retired Japanese badminton player. He has been a runner-up of the All England three times (2013, 2014 and 2016) along with his partner, Hiroyuki Endo. He competed at the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games. Career Hayakawa won the first point in the 2014 Thomas Cup finals with Hiroyuki Endo beating 2004 World Junior Champions Hoon Thien How and Tan Boon Heong and lead the momentum for the Japanese team to claim the Thomas Cup for the first time, being the fourth nation to win Thomas cup after Indonesia, China and Malaysia. Hiroyuki Endo
is a retired Japanese badminton player. He competed at the Badminton at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's doubles, 2016 Rio and Badminton at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's doubles, 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. In 2009, he joined the Unisys badminton team. Career Endo won the 1st point in the Thomas Cup finals with Kenichi Hayakawa beating Tan Boon Heong and Hoon Thien How and led the momentum for the Japanese team to claim the Thomas Cup for the first time, being the fourth nation to win the Thomas cup after Indonesia, China and Malaysia.
