The 2012–13 Sheffield Shield season was the 111th season of the Sheffield Shield, the domestic first-class cricket, first-class cricket competition of Australia. The competition was won by Tasmania cricket team, Tasmania. It was one of the most tightly contested seasons in many years, with all six teams having a chance to make the final heading into the last round of the regular season. Cricket Australia (CA), formerly known as the Australian Cricket Board (ACB), is the governing body for professional and amateur cricket in Australia. Peter Nevill
Peter Michael Nevill (born 13 October 1985) is an Australian former cricketer who played 17 Tests and 9 T20 internationals for Australia. He also represented New South Wales and the Melbourne Stars, having previously played for the Melbourne Renegades and the Sydney Sixers. He was Australia's regular Test wicket-keeper from the second test of 2015 Ashes series until being dropped in November 2016. He made his Twenty20 International debut for Australia against South Africa on 4 March 2016. He retired in April 2022. Paul Wilson (cricketer)
Paul Wilson (born 12 January 1972) is an Australian cricket umpire and former cricketer who played one Test match and 11 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for the Australian national cricket team, as well as domestically representing South Australia and Western Australia. Born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Wilson moved to Adelaide to attend the Australian Cricket Academy, and went to debut for South Australia during the 1995–96 season. A solidly-built right-arm fast bowler, all of his matches at international level came during the 1997–98 season, with his single Test coming during Australia's tour of India. Wilson remained active at domestic level until the early 2000s, switching to Western Australia for the 2002–03 season. Aiden Craig Blizzard (born 27 June 1984) is a former Australian cricketer who played domestic cricket for Tasmania, South Australia, and Victoria. An aggressive left-handed batsman, he hit 89 from 38 balls on his Twenty20 debut for Victoria on New Years Day 2007. His innings included 8 sixes. In 2004 he toured India and Sri Lanka with the Australian Cricket Academy. He has also played for Rajshahi Rangers in Bangladesh's NCL T20 Bangladesh. Nicolas James Maddinson (born 21 December 1991) is an Australian cricketer. He is a left-handed opening batter who has represented Australia in both Test matches and Twenty20 Internationals. Declaration And Forfeiture
In the sport of cricket, a declaration occurs when a captain declares his team's innings closed and a forfeiture occurs when a captain chooses to forfeit an innings without batting. Declaration and forfeiture are covered in Law 15 of the ''Laws of Cricket''. This concept applies only to matches in which each team is scheduled to bat in two innings; Law 15 specifically does not apply in any form of limited overs cricket. Jackson Bird
Jackson Munro Bird (born 11 December 1986) is an Australian international cricketer. He has played for Australia in the past and currently plays first-class cricket for Tasmania. Bird is a fast-medium bowler. He is originally from Sydney and was educated at Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview and St Pius X College, Chatswood. Bird left the Manly club to further his career with the Tasmanian Tigers in the 2011–2012 season. Early career In March 2012, Bird took a hat-trick against Western Australia at the Bellerive Oval. Not Out
In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Batters further down the batting order than the not out batters do not come out to the crease at all and are noted as ''did not bat'' rather than ''not out''; by contrast, a batter who comes to the crease but faces no balls is ''not out''. Simon Douglas Fry (born 29 July 1966) is an Australian cricket umpire. In April 2020, Fry announced his retirement from elite umpiring. Umpiring career Fry served as an international umpire in ODIs for the first time in a match between Australia and England at Adelaide on 26 January 2011. He stood in his first T20I in a match between Australia and England at Adelaide on 12 January 2011. He was selected as one of the twenty umpires to stand in matches during the 2015 Cricket World Cup, where was an on-field umpire in three group stage matches.
