The 2012–13 Russian National Football League was the 21st season of Russia's second-tier football league since the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The season began on 9 July 2012 and ended on 26 May 2013. Russian National Football League
The Russian First League (russian: Первая лига, Pervaya liga), formerly called Russian First Division (russian: Первый дивизион) and Russian Football National League (FNL) (russian: Первенство Футбольной Национальной Лиги, Pervenstvo Futbol'noy Natsional'noy Ligi) is the second level of the Russian football league system. The Russian Professional Football League (PFL) used to run the division. Since 2011, it has been managed by the Football National League. The league consists of 18 clubs. After each season the two top clubs are promoted to the Premier League, and the bottom four clubs are relegated to the Russian Professional Football League. Third and fourth team play in home-and-away promotion play-offs against the 13th and 14th Premier League teams. Aleksei Sergeyevich Medvedev (russian: Алексей Серге́евич Медведев; born 5 January 1977) is a Russian professional football coach and a former player. Career Medvedev, an alumnus of CSKA Moscow youth school, started his professional career in 1995 playing for Orekhovo in the Russian Second Division. In 1998, he became the league top scorer with 24 goals. Following this achievement, Medvedev signed for the Russian Premier League club FC Saturn Ramenskoye in 1999. In 2000, he moved to Dynamo Moscow for a reported fee of €200,000. He played in the UEFA Cup 2000–01 and UEFA Cup 2001–02 for FC Dynamo Moscow (5 games). In 2002, Saturn brought his back to Ramenskoye for a reported sum of €325,000. In 2005, he was loaned to Tom Tomsk, and in 2006 he signed for Krylia Sovetov Samara. Igor Igorevich Portnyagin (russian: Игорь Игоревич Портнягин; born 7 January 1989) is a Russian former professional footballer who played as a forward. 2012–13 Russian Premier League
The 2012–13 Russian Premier League was the 21st season of the Russian football championship since the dissolution of the Soviet Union and 11th under the current Russian Premier League name. It began on 21 July 2012 and ended on 26 May 2013, with a winter break between the weekends around 13 December 2012 and 10 March 2013. 16 teams from 12 cities compete in the season, with Zenit St. Petersburg as defending champions. For the first time since 2005, no Siberian clubs take part. This was the first season in Russian football history to be played on the basis of the autumn/spring calendar, rather than the spring/autumn schedule traditionally used in Russia due to climate conditions.
