2012–13 New York Islanders Season
The 2012–13 New York Islanders season was the 41st season in the franchise's history. The regular season was reduced from its usual 82 games to 48 due to a lockout. For the sixth time in franchise history, the Islanders tied their longest homestand (of seven games) – beginning on February 24 and lasting through March 9 – in which they earned three wins during that span. The Islanders qualified for the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time since the 2006–07 NHL season. Eastern Conference (NHL)
The Eastern Conference (french: Conférence de l'Est) is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Western Conference. History Originally named the Prince of Wales Conference, it was created in 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The Prince of Wales Trophy dates back to 1925, when it was donated to the League by the Prince of Wales, who later became King Edward VIII and then the Duke of Windsor. HV71
HV71 (), often referred to as just HV, is a Swedish professional ice hockey club based in Jönköping, playing in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), the first tier of Swedish ice hockey. The team played in the 2008–09 Champions Hockey League season, and also participates in the new Champions Hockey League tournament since the 2014–15 season. Between 2008 and 2013, HV also participated in the European Trophy tournament. Jesse Joensuu
Jesse Joensuu (born October 5, 1987) is a Finnish professional ice hockey forward who currently plays for Ässät in the Liiga. Joensuu is the captain of Ässät for the 2022–23 season. Playing career Joensuu was selected 60th overall in the second round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders. Joensuu played parts of five seasons with hometown team Ässät of the SM-liiga, starting off as a 16-year-old in 2003–04. This made him the youngest player in the history of the Finnish professional ice-hockey league. His best season came in 2007–08, when he had 17 goals and 18 assists for 35 points, leading the team in scoring. After his season in Finland, Joensuu played one game with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the Islanders' American Hockey League affiliate. Shane Harper (ice Hockey)
Shane Harper (born February 1, 1989) is an American professional ice hockey player who is currently playing with the Adirondack Thunder of the ECHL. Playing career Shane Harper grew up playing hockey in the greater Los Angeles area. As a youth, he played in the 2002 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Anaheim Junior Ducks minor ice hockey team. Prior to turning professional, Harper played major junior hockey in the Western Hockey League with the Everett Silvertips where he was named to the Western Conference Second All-Star Team for his outstanding play during the 2009–10 WHL season. The 2013–14 Philadelphia Flyers season was the 47th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. Off-season The Flyers first major move of the off-season was trading for the negotiating rights to New York Islanders defenseman Mark Streit, an impending unrestricted free agent, for a fourth-round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft and minor league forward Shane Harper. Streit signed a four-year, $21 million contract with the Flyers. Tim Thomas (ice Hockey, Born 1974)
Timothy Thomas Jr. (born April 15, 1974) is an American former professional ice hockey goaltender who mainly played in the National Hockey League (NHL), most notably with the Boston Bruins. He was born in Flint, Michigan and is a graduate of Davison High School. Thomas played college hockey for the University of Vermont for four years, from 1993–1997, during which he was drafted 217th overall by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. He played for several years in the minor leagues and Europe, before making it to the NHL at age 28, with the Boston Bruins. He finally emerged as the Bruins' starting goaltender at age 32. Thomas is a two-time winner of the Vezina Trophy (2009 and 2011) as the NHL's best goaltender, and was a member of Team USA in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The 2012–13 Boston Bruins season was their 89th season in the National Hockey League (NHL). The regular season was reduced from its usual 82 games to 48 due to a lockout. The 2012–13 Anaheim Ducks season was the 20th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise. The season was partially cancelled due to the 2012–13 NHL lockout, which ended on January 6, 2013. The 2012–13 campaign for the Ducks commenced as a shortened, 48-game season, beginning January 19 away against the Vancouver Canucks. The shortened season featured only intra-conference games.
