Shannon Miller (ice Hockey)
Shannon Miller (born November 17, 1963) is a Canadian ice hockey coach, who previously served as the head coach of the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs women's ice hockey team from 1999 to 2015. In addition, she was the head coach of the Canadian national women's hockey team which claimed gold at the 1997 IIHF World Women's Championships, along with the silver medal in ice hockey at the 1998 Winter Olympics. Amsoil Arena
AMSOIL Arena is a multipurpose arena in Duluth, Minnesota, home to the UMD Men's and UMD Women's hockey teams. It opened in 2010, replacing the DECC Arena on the waterfront near Duluth's landmark Aerial Lift Bridge. Naming rights for 20 years were purchased by AMSOIL, a corporation based in Superior, Wisconsin, for $6 million, one-third up front. The facility cost nearly $80 million; about half ($38 million) paid by the State of Minnesota through a 2008 bond bill, another 27% (about $21.6 million) by a voter-approved city food-and-beverage tax increase, 12% (about $9.6 million) by UMD, and the last 11% (about $8.8 million) by the DECC. Construction ran from September 2008 to December 2010, and included a 475-space parking garage with a skywalk connecting it to the arena. The first event held at the arena was on December 30, 2010. 2011–12 Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs Women's Ice Hockey Season
The Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs women's hockey team represented the University of Minnesota Duluth in the 2011–12 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The Bulldogs attempted to win their sixth NCAA women's Frozen Four championship. The school hosted two postseason events: the 2012 NCAA Frozen Four Championship, and the 2011 WCHA's Final Face-Off, both at AMSOIL Arena. Of note, head coach Miller was chair of the Ethics Committee for US women's college hockey. In addition, she was a member of the NCAA Division 1 Championships Committee, one of only two coaches in the entire country to serve on both committees. WCHA Women's Ice Hockey
The Western Collegiate Hockey Association is a college athletic conference which operates in the Midwestern United States. It participates as a women's ice hockey conference in the NCAA's National Collegiate division, the de facto equivalent of Division I in that sport. Founded in 1951 as a men's ice hockey conference, it added a women's division in 1999, and continued to operate men's and women's divisions through the 2020–21 hockey season. After that season, the WCHA disbanded its men's division after seven of its 10 men's members left the conference to reestablish the Central Collegiate Hockey Association; the WCHA remained in operation as a women-only league. Each team plays 28 league games, each team playing four games against every other, two home games and two road games. Jenna McParland
Jenna McParland (born May 12, 1992) is a Canadian ice hockey forward, currently playing for the Toronto Six in the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL). Playing career Across 141 NCAA Division I games with the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs, McParland scored 116 points. She was drafted 6th overall by the Brampton Thunder in the 2015 CWHL Draft. After graduating, she signed with Brampton in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). She would play the next four seasons with the club, until the collapse of the CWHL in 2019. In 2018, she won the Clarkson Cup with the team. In May 2019, she joined the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA), and would spend the 2019–20 season with the organisation. Jessica Wong
Jessica Wong (born March 29, 1991), also known by the Chinese name Wang Yuting (), is a Canadian ice hockey player, a defenceman. She most recently played with the Chinese national ice hockey team and in the Zhenskaya Hockey League (ZhHL) with the KRS Vanke Rays during the 2021–22 season. She was drafted first overall in the 2013 CWHL Draft by the Calgary Inferno and played four seasons in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). Wong represented China in the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Pernilla Margareta Stephanie Winberg (born 24 February 1989) is a Swedish ice hockey retired forward, who currently serves as a commentator for C More and assistant coach for PWHL Boston. She scored 282 points across her 9 year SDHL career, winning two SDHL championships. She made over 300 appearances for the Swedish national team, winning a silver medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Brigette Lacquette
Brigette Lacquette (born November 10, 1992) is a Canadian ice hockey player, currently playing defence for the Calgary section of the PWHPA and the Canadian national team. She participated at the 2015 IIHF Women's World Championship. In the autumn of 2015, Lacquette joined the Calgary Inferno of the CWHL. In 2018, Lacquette became the first First Nations woman to play for the Canadian women's Olympic hockey team. To honour her accomplishment, Lacquette's Olympic hockey stick was included in the diversity exhibit in the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018.
