The 2012–13 Athletic Bilbao season was the 82nd consecutive season in the top flight and 112th season overall. Athletic were looking to continue their ascendency from 2011–12 Athletic Bilbao season, last season where they made the final in two different competitions. Athletic Bilbao competed for their ninth 2012–13 La Liga, La Liga title and also participated in the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League, UEFA Europa League, entering in the third qualifying round due to their defeat to FC Barcelona, Barcelona in the 2012 Copa del Rey Final, who had already qualified for UEFA, European competition. Athletic Club ( eu, Bilboko Athletic Kluba; es, Athletic Club de Bilbao), commonly known as Athletic Bilbao or just Athletic, is a professional Association football, football club based in the city of Bilbao in the Basque Country (autonomous community), Basque Country of Spain. Gorka Iraizoz Moreno (born 6 March 1981) is a Spanish former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He spent most of his professional career with Athletic Bilbao, appearing in 392 official games. In La Liga he also represented Espanyol and Girona, winning the 2006 Copa del Rey with the first club. Club career Early years and Espanyol Iraizoz was born in Pamplona, Navarre and raised in nearby Ansoáin. Ismael 'Isma' López Blanco (born 29 January 1990) is a Spanish professional footballer. Mainly a left-back, he can also play as a left winger. Markel Susaeta Laskurain (, ; born 14 December 1987) is a Spanish former footballer who played as a right winger. He spent almost the entirety of his professional career with Athletic Bilbao after making his debut with the first team in 2007, appearing in 507 competitive matches and scoring 56 goals for the club.
