The Men's time trial of the 2012 UCI Road World Championships cycling event took place on 19 September 2012 in Limburg, Netherlands. Tony Martin defended his title by one of the smallest margins in the history of the event. On his ride he caught up and overtook Alberto Contador who started two minutes ahead. Rainbow Jersey
The rainbow jersey is the distinctive jersey worn by the reigning world champion in a cycling discipline, since 1927. The jersey is predominantly white with five horizontal bands in the UCI colours around the chest. From the bottom up the colours are: green, yellow, black, red and blue; the same colours that appear in the rings on the Olympic flag. The tradition is applied to all disciplines, including road racing, track racing, cyclo-cross, BMX, Trials and the disciplines within mountain biking. A world champion must wear the jersey when competing in the same discipline, category and speciality for which the title was won. For example, the world road race champion would wear the garment while competing in stage races (except for time trial stages) and one-day races, but would not be entitled to wear it during time trials. Riccardo Zoidl (born 8 April 1988) is an Austrian cyclist, who rides for UCI Continental team . Career In 2012 he won the Austrian National Time Trial Championships and in 2013 and 2014 he won the Austrian National Road Race Championships. Tanel Kangert (born 11 March 1987) is an Estonian former road bicycle racer, who competed as a professional from 2008 to 2022. Early life Kangert was born in Vändra, Estonia. He attended kindergarten alongside fellow Estonian cyclist Rein Taaramäe. Career Kangert signed his first professional contract with in 2008, after riding with the team as a stagiaire in the 2007 season.
