The 2012 Trinidad and Tobago League Cup was the thirteenth season of the ''First Citizens Cup'', which is the league cup competition for Trinidad and Tobago teams competing in the TT Pro League. Caledonia AIA entered as the cup holders having defeated T&TEC by a score of 2–1 in the 2011 final. Continuing from previous seasons, the slogan for the year's league cup was ''No Room for Losers'' and was sponsored by First Citizens Bank for the twelfth consecutive year. To keep with the tag-line, the year's edition only rewarded prizes to the cup winners and runner-up. Qualification With the number of participating clubs in the TT Pro League increasing from six to eight over the 2011 edition of the First Citizens Cup, the format of the cup returned to a knockout tournament with all eight teams entering at the quarterfinal round. Jason Marcano
Jason Marcano (30 December 1983 – 30 May 2019) was a Trinidad and Tobago international footballer who played as a forward. Personal life Marcano was born to parents Maria John and Steve Marcano, the only boy with five sisters. He started his football career at the age of 10 while attending arima west government primary school, he later went on to play for the under 20 team and the Trinidad and Tobago under 23 Olympic team in 2003. Marcano lived in his home town of Arima with his wife and son. He was a cousin of professional footballer Elton John, with whom he played at San Juan Jabloteh and Central. Death On 30 May 2019, Marcano was driving along Trinidad's Eastern Main Road near Arouca when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a wall, killing him. Cornell Glen
Cornelius "Cornell" Glen CM (born 21 October 1981) is a Trinidadian former professional footballer who played as a forward. Club career Glen began his professional career in 1999 with Trinidadian club FUTGOF. After two years with FUTGOF, Glen moved to Portugal, where he played for Sanjoanense. After playing slightly over a season there, he returned to Trinidad and Tobago, where he joined San Juan Jabloteh. Glen dominated the league with Jabloteh, leading the club to two consecutive league championships in 2002 and 2003, while registering 12 and 26 goals in the respective seasons. After scoring a hat trick in a CONCACAF Champions Cup game against the Chicago Fire on 17 March 2004, Glen was bought by the MetroStars of Major League Soccer. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Devorn Jorsling (born 27 December 1983 in Morvant) is a Trinidadian footballer who currently plays for Defence Force. Club career Early career Jorsling played extensively in the TT Pro League, initially with W Connection and Caledonia AIA, but most prominently Defence Force, with whom he played for 8 seasons. He was part of the Defence Force squad which won T&T Pro League title in 2010/2011, won a First Citizens Cup winner's medal in 2009, won the Trinidad and Tobago Cup in 2005, and won the T&T Pro League Golden Boot Award in 2008, tallying 21 goals. He also played for the team in their 2002 CONCACAF Champions' Cup first round loss to Pachuca. Marabella
Marabella is a former town in southern Trinidad, between San Fernando (to the south) and Pointe-à-Pierre (to the north). Early 19th-century maps highlighted it as Marabella Junction because of the railway intersection to Williamsville and other central areas. Central Football Club is a Trinidad and Tobago professional football club, based in California, that plays in the TT Pro League.
