2012 Toronto Blue Jays Season
The 2012 Toronto Blue Jays season was the 36th season of Major League Baseball's Toronto Blue Jays franchise, and the 23rd full season of play (24th overall) at the Rogers Centre. Their opening game was played on April 5 against the Cleveland Indians in Cleveland. The Blue Jays finished 73–89, in fourth place in the American League East. New identity On November 18, 2011, the Blue Jays unveiled a new logo and uniforms for the 2012 season. The logo and all-white home uniform bear a strong resemblance to the original logo and home uniforms, used from 1977 to 1996. The grey road uniform resembles those used from 1989 to 1996, and the alternate royal blue jersey—to be used for home and road games—resembles those used from 1994 to 1996, as well as the batting practice jerseys used from 1982 to 1996. Alex Anthopoulos (born May 25, 1977) is a Canadian professional baseball executive, currently working as the general manager and president of baseball operations for the Atlanta Braves. He was the senior vice president of baseball operations and General manager (baseball), general manager of the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball (MLB) from 2010 to 2015, for whom he began as a Scout (sport), scouting coordinator in 2003. American League East
The American League East is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. MLB consists of an East, Central, and West division for each of its two 15-team leagues, the American League (AL) and National League (NL). This division was created before the start of the season along with the American League West division. Before that time, each league consisted of 10 teams without any divisions. Michael Samuel Wilner (born March 14, 1970) is a former Canadian baseball broadcaster for the Toronto Blue Jays. From 2014 through 2020, he called play-by-play for the Blue Jays' radio broadcasts, and authored a blog on Sportsnet.ca/590. In sports, a winning percentage is the fraction of games or matches a team or individual has won. The statistic is commonly used in standings or rankings to compare teams or individuals. It is defined as wins divided by the total number of matches played (i.e. wins plus draws plus losses). Spring training is the preseason in Major League Baseball (MLB), a series of practices and exhibition games preceding the start of the regular season.
