2012 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2012 SEC men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Southeastern Conference held from March 8–11, 2012 in New Orleans at the New Orleans Arena. The first round and quarterfinal rounds were televised through the SEC TV, SEC Network and the semifinals and final were broadcast nationally on College Basketball on ABC, ABC. This was also the first year teams were seeded #1 through #12, as the conference eliminated divisional play prior to the season, although the 2011–12 schedule was still structured based upon the divisions used from 1991–92 through 2010–11. This was the last SEC tournament to have 12 teams. The addition of Missouri Tigers men's basketball, Missouri and Texas A&M Aggies men's basketball, Texas A&M from the Big 12 Conference had been announced prior to the season. New Orleans Arena
Smoothie King Center (locally referred to as SKC) is a multi-purpose indoor arena in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is located in the city's Central Business District, adjacent to Caesars Superdome. The arena opened in 1999 as New Orleans Arena and has been home to the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA) since 2002. The New Orleans VooDoo of the Arena Football League played their home games in the arena from 2004 until the team disbanded in 2008. The VooDoo resumed play at the arena in March 2011, until after the 2015 AFL season when the franchise folded. Arena information The arena was completed in 1999 at a cost of $114 million and officially opened on October 19, 1999. The 2011–12 Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team (variously "Alabama", "UA", "Bama" or " The Tide") represented the University of Alabama in the 2011–12 college basketball season. The team's head coach was Anthony Grant, in his third season at Alabama after posting a 25–12 record the previous year. The team played their home games at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, as a member of the Southeastern Conference. This was the 99th season of basketball in the school's history. The 2011–12 Arkansas Razorbacks men's basketball team represented the University of Arkansas in the sport of basketball during the 2011–12 college basketball season. The Razorbacks competed in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They were led by head coach Mike Anderson, and played their home games at Bud Walton Arena on the university's Fayetteville, Arkansas campus. SEC Network
The SEC Network is an American multinational sports network owned by ESPN Inc., a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company (which operates the network, through its 80% controlling ownership interest) and Hearst Communications (which holds the remaining 20% interest).
