2012 Rugby Super League Season
The 2012 Rugby Super League season was the seventeenth and final season of the Rugby Super League, the United States premier division of rugby union, before being replaced by the USA Rugby Elite Cup. The regular season commenced on March 10, 2012. On May 19, 2012, the regular season ended, and was followed by the playoffs, for which the top four clubs qualified. The defending champions and premiers were the San Francisco Golden Gate. New York Athletic Club RFC won both the regular season and the playoffs. The 2011 Rugby Super League season was be the sixteenth season of the Rugby Super League, the United States' premier division of rugby union. The regular season commenced March 12, 2011 with the Utah Warriors playing the Denver Barbarians. On April 30, 2011; the regular season ended, followed by the RSL playoffs, for which the top four clubs qualified. San Francisco Golden Gate won the playoffs and were crowned champions. They also had the best regular season and repeated as premiers. The defending champions were the New York Athletic Club, the defending premiers were the San Francisco Golden Gate. Travers Island, New York
Travers Island is a former island in Long Island Sound, located in the city of New Rochelle, New York. The island, originally united by a causeway to the mainland, comprises a tract of thirty acres in the Lower Harbor of New Rochelle, situated between Neptune Island (Long Island Sound), Neptune Island, Glen Island Park (New Rochelle, New York), Glen Island and Hunter Island, New York, Hunter Island in New York City's Pelham Bay Park. The narrow strip of water originally making it an island was eventually filled in, converting this tract into a peninsula. Travers Island currently serves as the New York Athletic Club's summer home. The New York Athletic Club is a private social club and athletic club in New York state. Founded in 1868, the club has approximately 8,600 members and two facilities: the City House, located at 180 Central Park South in Manhattan, and Travers Island, located in Westchester County. Membership in the club is by invitation only. Paul Keeler
Paul Keeler (born April 17, 1971) is an American rugby union coach and former player. Keeler has coached Old Blue RFC, San Francisco Golden Gate, and Santa Clara University. In 2016, Keeler was the head coach of PRO Rugby team San Francisco Rush. Playing career Keeler began playing rugby for Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, before moving on to play with the Buffalo Old Boys RFC and Rockaway RFC men's clubs. Keeler moved on to play with Old Blue RFC of the Rugby Super League, reaching the playoffs four times including two RSL semifinals. Keeler was also a MetNY and NERFU select player during this period. Coaching Club Keeler moved into coaching as a player/coach and was assistant coach to the Australian coach Geoff Mould of Australian schoolboys fame. The Seattle Rugby Club (formerly Seattle Saracens and Old Puget Sound Beach after a merger) is a rugby union club based in Seattle. The club travels throughout the US and into Canada.
