2012 Men's Hockey Champions Challenge I
The 2012 Men's Hockey Champions Challenge was held from 24 November to 2 December 2012 in Quilmes, Argentina. The tournament doubled as the qualifier to the 2014 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy to be held in India as the winner earned an automatic berth to compete. Argentina won the tournament for the third time after defeating Korea 5–0 in the final, earning an automatic berth at the 2014 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy after their absence in the previous four editions. Quilmes
Quilmes () is a city on the coast of the Río de la Plata, Rio de la Plata, in the , on the south east of the Greater Buenos Aires. The city was founded in 1666 and it is the seat of the Quilmes Partido, eponymous county. With a population of 230,810, it is located south of the capital of Argentina, the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. History The ''Quilmes (tribe), Quilmes'' were a native tribe who lived in the surroundings of San Miguel de Tucumán, Tucumán. In the 17th century, after repeated attempts by the Spanish invaders to control their lands, the Quilmes were defeated and were forced to settle in a restricted colony (''reducción'') near Buenos Aires, where the authorities could control them. Keegan Reginald Pereira (born September 8, 1991) is an Indian-born Canadian field hockey player, who plays as a midfielder or forward for the Canadian national team. Club career Pereira played for the Victoria Vikes and UBC Thunderbirds before he moved to Europe to play for Royal Wellington in Belgium. In 2016, he moved to Germany to play for Uhlenhorst Mülheim, with whom he won two Bundesliga titles. International career He competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Chua Boon Huat (3 May 1980 – 1 August 2013) was a field hockey player from Bukit Cina, Malacca, Malaysia. Boon Huat was one of the longest serving hockey players in Malaysia. Career Club He was with Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club for 10 years and part of 'the double' winners for three consecutive seasons. In April 2002 Boon Huat take up an offer to play in the German League. During his stint, he did not disappoint his club, Red And White Munich. During his three-month stint in Germany, Boon Huat scored seven goals in nine matches, all field goals.
