2012 Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup
The 2012 Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup is the seventh Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup season. The season began at Hockenheimring on 21 April and finished on 14 October at Spa, after 20 races at 8 events. Drivers and teams After the Formula Renault UK was cancelled for the 2012 season, British team Fortec Motorsports joined the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC with refugee Josh Hill and Intersteps champion Jake Dennis among its drivers, whereas Manor Competition followed with Jordan King. Race calendar and results The eight-event provisional calendar for the 2012 season was announced on 22 November 2011. The Spa round was later moved to the end of the season. Kurt Mollekens
Kurt Mollekens (born 8 March 1973 in Bonheiden) is a Belgian race car driver and team owner. Mollekens debuted as a driver in top-level karting during 1990, staying there until 1992 when he moved up to Formula Ford. His debut Formula Ford year was successful, him winning all three titles he challenged for – Benelux Formula Ford, Dutch Formula Ford and Belgian Formula Ford. Mollekens also achieved success in the 1993 British Formula Ford season, which helped him into Formula Opel Euroseries (1994) and the British Formula 3 Championship (1995). He stayed in the latter during 1996, at which time he won the international Formula Three race at Zandvoort, his biggest win. Steijn Schothorst
Steijn Schothorst (born 14 October 1994) is a Dutch racing driver. His father Jeroen, his brother Pieter and his nephew Bas Schothorst are also active in Dutch motorsport. Karting and production car racing In 2009, Steijn Schothorst finished second in the Dutch Karting Championship. The year after, at 15 years of age, he was declared KNAF Talent First. Later in 2010, he competed in the Formido Swift Cup under the guidance of Tim and Tom Coronel. Open-wheel racing 2011 saw his first tries at formula racing, finishing third in the Formula Ford EuroCup and second at the annual Formula Ford Festival. Meindert van Buuren, Jr. (born 5 January 1995) is a Dutch former racing driver, who currently resides in Rockanje. Career Karting Van Buuren began karting in 2004 at the age of nine and raced mostly in various Dutch championships, working his way up from the junior ranks to progress through to the Rotax Max DD2 category by 2011, when he finished in fourth position in the Rotax Max Wintercup. Formula Renault 2.0 2011 saw his début in the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup championship with Van Amersfoort Racing. Raoul Owens (born 22 August 1994) is a London-based, British racing driver. He will compete in the VLN Endurance Championship based at the Nürburgring with Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW. Career Early years It was in the UK at the age of 8 that Raoul Owens began competing in karting. Shortly after, in 2005 with the family move to South Africa, Raoul continued his early development by joining the Western Province Motoring Club. By the following year Raoul had his first substantial milestone, winning the Mini Max Regional Championship. Manor Motorsport Ltd, currently trading as Manor Endurance Racing Ltd is a British motor racing company that was formed in 1990 by former single-seater champion John Booth. Andrea Pizzitola (born 19 June 1992) is a professional French racing driver. He is best known for finishing as the runner-up in the 2011 French F4 Championship season. Career Karting Born in Montpellier, Pizzitola entered karting in 2008, racing in local championships. His best achievement was eighth place in the French KF2 Championship in 2011.
