The 2012 Dwars door Vlaanderen was the 67th edition of the Dwars door Vlaanderen cycle race and was held on 21 March 2012. The race started in Roeselare and finished in Waregem. The race was won by Niki Terpstra. Niki Terpstra
Niki Terpstra (; born 18 May 1984) is a Dutch racing cyclist, who rides for UCI ProTeam . He is the brother of fellow racing cyclist Mike Terpstra. He is the third Dutch cyclist to have won both of the cobbled Monument spring classics, Paris–Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders, after Jan Raas and Hennie Kuiper. Career Early life and career Niki Terpstra was born on 18 May 1984 in Beverwijk in the Netherlands. He was part of the silver medal-winning team in the team pursuit in the 2005 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, together with Levi Heimans, Jens Mouris and Peter Schep. With a 4th place in the Three Days of De Panne followed by a 14th place at the 2008 Tour of Flanders, young Terpstra showed signs of considerable talent. Lloyd Mondory (born 26 April 1982) is a French restaurateur and former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally between 2004 and 2015 for the team before he was suspended for four years for the use of erythropoietin (EPO). The biggest results of his career included victory in the 2008 Grand Prix of Aargau Canton, stage wins in the Étoile de Bessèges, the Vuelta a Burgos and the Paris–Corrèze and second place in a stage of the 2008 Vuelta a España. In March 2015, it was announced that Mondory had tested positive for erythropoietin (EPO) in an out-of-competition test taken on 17 February. On 30 October 2015, the UCI announced that Mondory was suspended until 9 March 2019. Mondory did not return to cycling after his ban finished, electing to focus on his restaurant Oncle Scott's in Carentan, which opened in 2016. Maarten Wynants (born 13 May 1982) is a Belgian former professional road bicycle racer, who rode professionally between 2005 and 2021 for the , and teams. He now works as a directeur sportif for his final professional team, UCI WorldTeam . Career Born in Hasselt, Wynants was awarded the Combativity award, given to a rider judged to have showed exceptional attacking spirit during the race, following Stage 1 of the 2010 Tour de France on 4 July. Attacking in the first kilometre, he continued to lead from the front until both he and Alexandr Pliushin of were caught by the peloton just from the end of the stage. In June 2020, Wynants announced that he would retire from cycling in April 2021, after that year's Paris–Roubaix. Waregem (; vls, Woaregem), sometimes known as Waereghem, is a municipality and city located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality lies in the valley of the river Leie, between Kortrijk and Ghent. Roeselare (; french: Roulers, ; West Flemish: ''Roeseloare'') is a Belgian city and municipality in the Flemish province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the city of Roeselare proper and the towns of Beveren, Oekene and Rumbeke.
