2012 Cup Of China
The 2012 Cup of China was the third event of six in the 2012–13 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It was held at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai on November 2–4. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Skaters earned points toward qualifying for the 2012–13 Grand Prix Final. Eligibility Skaters who reached the age of 14 by July 1, 2012 were eligible to compete on the senior Grand Prix circuit. The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Single Skating
Single skating is a discipline of figure skating in which male and female skaters compete individually. Men's singles and women's singles are governed by the International Skating Union (ISU). Figure skating is the oldest winter sport contested at the Olympics, with men's and women's single skating appearing as two of the four figure skating events at the 1908 Summer Olympics, London Games in 1908. Single skaters are required to perform two segments in all international competitions, the short program (figure skating), short program and the free skating program. Song Nan (; born August 9, 1990) is a Chinese former competitive figure skater. He is the 2014 Four Continents bronze medalist, the 2013 Winter Universiade champion, the 2010 World Junior silver medalist, a two-time senior Grand Prix medalist, and a three-time Chinese national champion (2009, 2012, 2013). Career Song started skating at age six. His parents put him in skating to improve his health. He lived and trained at Beijing's Capital Gymnasium Sports Complex, which includes dormitories. Guan Jinlin (; born April 25, 1989) is a Chinese former competitive figure skater. He is the 2008 World Junior bronze medalist and finished in the top ten at four Four Continents Championships. Andrew Poje (born February 25, 1987) is a Canadian ice dancer. With partner Kaitlyn Weaver, he is a three-time World medalist (2014 silver, 2015 and 2018 bronze), a two-time Four Continents champion (2010, 2015), a two-time Grand Prix Final champion (2014–15, 2015–16), and a three-time Canadian national champion (2015, 2016, 2019). Dylan David Moscovitch (born 23 September 1984) is a retired Canadian pair skater. He competed with Liubov Ilyushechkina from 2014 to 2018. Kirsten Moore-Towers (born July 1, 1992) is a Canadian retired competitive pair skater who competed internationally at the senior level for thirteen seasons from 2009 to 2022. She first achieved distinction partnered with Dylan Moscovitch, winning the 2011 Canadian national title. Amélie Lacoste (born December 17, 1988) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. She is the 2010 Skate Canada International bronze medallist and the 2012 Canadian national champion.
