2012 Chicago White Sox Season
The 2012 Chicago White Sox season was the club's 113th season in Chicago and 112th in the American League. On October 6, 2011, Robin Ventura was designated to be the new manager. Offseason White Sox GM Kenny Williams called the 2012 season a "rebuilding" year. In doing so, the Sox made some big moves in the offseason by trading away or letting big name free agents leave. Mark Buehrle became a free agent and decided to follow his former manager, Ozzie Guillén, and sign with the Miami Marlins. The White Sox closer during the 2011 season, Sergio Santos, was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. Left fielder Juan Pierre became a free agent and signed with the Philadelphia Phillies. Power hitting right fielder Carlos Quentin, was traded to the San Diego Padres. American League Central
The American League Central is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. This division was formed in the realignment of 1994 by moving three teams from the American League West and two teams from the American League East. Its teams are all located in the Midwestern United States. Along with the National League East, the AL Central is one of two divisions in the Major Leagues in which all of its members have won a World Series title. José Quintana
José Guillermo Quintana (born January 24, 1989) is a Colombian professional baseball pitcher for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Angels, San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals. Quintana pitched in Minor League Baseball for the New York Mets and New York Yankees organizations before becoming a free agent and signing with the Chicago White Sox before the 2012 season. Carlos José Quentin (born August 28, 1982) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago White Sox and San Diego Padres. In 2008 and 2011, Quentin was selected as an All-Star. Early life Quentin attended Saint Pius X Elementary School (Chula Vista, California). At University of San Diego High School, he was a three-sport athlete, playing baseball, football, and basketball. Juan D'Vaughn Pierre (born August 14, 1977) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 2000–2013 for the Colorado Rockies, Florida/Miami Marlins, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox, and Philadelphia Phillies. Sergio Jose Santos (born July 4, 1983) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago White Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees. Draft and career as a shortstop Santos, who is of Mexican American descent, was drafted out of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round of the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft. Ozzie Guillén
Oswaldo José Guillén Barrios (; born January 20, 1964) is a former professional baseball player and manager. He played in Major League Baseball as a shortstop for 16 seasons, primarily with the Chicago White Sox, from 1985 to 2000. During that time, he won the American Rookie of the Year Award and also a Gold Glove. He was considered one of the best defensive shortstops of his era. Mark Alan Buehrle (; born March 23, 1979) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played the majority of his Major League Baseball (MLB) career with the Chicago White Sox, playing twelve seasons for the team and winning the World Series with them in 2005. Buehrle also pitched for the Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays.
