2011–12 UNC Greensboro Spartans Men's Basketball Team
The 2011–12 UNC Greensboro Spartans men's basketball team represented the University of North Carolina at Greensboro during the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Spartans began the year coached by Mike Dement who resigned after ten games. Wes Miller was named interim coach on December 13, 2011, and became the youngest Division I men's basketball coach in the nation. The team plays its home games at Greensboro Coliseum and are members of the North Division of the Southern Conference. They finished the season 13–19, 10–8 in SoCon play to be champions of the North Division. They lost in the semifinals of the Southern Conference Basketball tournament to Western Carolina. Mike Dement
David Michael Dement (born April 10, 1954) is an American college basketball coach who was most recently the head men's basketball coach at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He is married to former Southern Methodist University women's basketball head coach Rhonda Rompola. From Louisburg, North Carolina, he was the head coach for UNCG from 1991 to 1995, leading them from a team with no conference affiliation to the top of the Big South Conference regular season standings in just four seasons. In his last two seasons at UNCG, Dement's teams went 38–18, including a school-record 23 wins in 1994–95 winning the Big South regular season title. In 2007–08, Dement won his 300th career game when the Spartans topped The Citadel in Charleston. He enters his 23rd year as a head coach with a mark of 312–313. Fuquay-Varina, NC
Fuquay-Varina ( ) is a town in southern Wake County, North Carolina, United States, lying south of Holly Springs and southwest of Garner, and north of the Harnett County town of Angier and west of the unincorporated community of Willow Springs. The population was 17,937 at the 2010 census, and estimated at 30,324 as of July 2019. The hyphenated name attests to the town's history as two separate towns.
