2011–12 UCI Track Cycling World Cup – Round 1 – Women's Team Pursuit
The first round of the women's team pursuit of the 2011–12 UCI Track Cycling World Cup took place in Astana, Kazakhstan Kazakhstan, officially the Republic of Kazakhstan, is a transcontinental country located mainly in Central Asia and partly in Eastern Europe. Competition format The women's team pursuit race consists of a 3 km race between two teams of three cyclists, starting on opposite sides of the track. If one team catches the other, the race is over. The tournament consisted of an initial qualifying round. The top two teams in the qualifying round advanced to the gold medal match and the third and fourth teams advanced to the bronze medal race. 2011–12 UCI Track Cycling World Cup
The 2011–12 UCI Track Cycling World Cup (also known as the 2011–2012 UCI Track Cycling World Cup, presented by Samsung for sponsorship reasons) was a multi-race tournament over a season of track cycling. The season ran from 4 November 2011 to 19 February 2012. The World Cup is organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale. In this edition the World Cup consisted of four rounds in Astana, Cali, Beijing and London. The series played a key role in who qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics and had its final round staged in the Veldorome where the 2012 Olympics were later held in London, as well as having a round in the 2008 Summer Olympics Velodrome in Beijing. Kelly Druyts
Kelly Druyts (born 21 November 1989) is a Belgian racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's Continental Team . She finished in second place in the Belgian National Road Race Championships in 2010. She won a bronze medal in the scratch race at the 2012 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, and gold in the scratch race at the 2014 Championships. Druyts is from a sporting family: her father, Ronny, played youth football with Beerschot AC and at the senior level with Dynamo Niel, where he was a champion in the Belgian Provincial leagues, her sister Steffy was a multiple national champion in gymnastics, and she is the sister of racing cyclists Jessy Druyts, Demmy Druyts, Lenny Druyts and Gerry Druyts. Jolien D'hoore (born 14 March 1990) is a Belgian former track and road cyclist, who rode professionally between 2007 and 2021 for the , , , and teams. D'hoore is a 29-time national track champion as well as a four-time national road champion at all competition levels. She won the bronze medal in the omnium at the 2016 Olympics and during her career was one of the strongest sprinters in the women's peloton. Katherine Bates
Katherine (Katey) Bates (born 18 May 1982 in Sydney) is a former Australian track and road cyclist. A multiple national champion, Bates rode as a professional since 2002. Katey's career highlights included Australian Road Race Champion in 2006, World Points Race Champion in 2007 and Commonwealth Games champion in 2002 and 2006. Bates competed in both track and road at the Olympic Games, finishing fourth in the individual pursuit at the 2004 Summer Olympics and sixth in the points race at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
