2011–12 Elite Women's Hockey League
The 2011–12 EWHL season was the eighth season of the Elite Women's Hockey League, a multi-national women's ice hockey league. Six teams participated in the league, and the EHV Sabres of Austria won the championship for the second time in a row and third time overall. Elite Women's Hockey League
The European Women's Hockey League, abbreviated EWHL, is an international ice hockey league. Created as the Elite Women's Hockey League in 2004 by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), the EWHL comprises clubs from several countries in Central Europe and one team from Kazakhstan, and is played in parallel to national championships. History The EWHL was created in 2004 on the same principle as the men's ice hockey Interliga. For its first season, the EWHL featured teams from Austria, Hungary, Italy and Slovenia. Teams from additional countries joined the league during the following seasons, including HC Slovan Bratislava from Slovakia in 2005, KHL Grič Zagreb from Croatia in 2006, and HC Slavia Praha from the Czech Republic in 2007. In the 2008–09 season, the Italian and Hungarian teams gave way to two clubs from Germany, OSC Berlin and ESC Planegg. Janka Čulíková
Janka Čulíková (born 30 June 1987 in Martin, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovakian ice hockey forward. International career Čulíková was selected for the Slovakia national women's ice hockey team in the 2010 Winter Olympics. She played in all five games, leading the team with two goals and three points. She played all three games of the qualifying campaign for the 2014 Olympics. Čulíková has also appeared for Slovakia at eight IIHF Women's World Championships, across three levels. Her first appearance came in 2004. Esther Kantor
Esther is the eponymous heroine of the Book of Esther. In the Achaemenid Empire, the Persian king Ahasuerus seeks a new wife after his queen, Vashti, is deposed for disobeying him. Hadassah, a Jewess who goes by the name of Esther, is chosen to fulfill this role due to her beauty. Ahasuerus' grand vizier, Haman, is offended by Esther's cousin and guardian, Mordecai, due to his refusal to prostrate himself before Haman. Consequently, Haman plots to have all the Jewish subjects of Persia killed, and convinces Ahasuerus to permit him to do so. However, Esther foils the plan by revealing Haman's eradication plans to Ahasuerus, who then has Haman executed and grants permission to the Jews to kill their enemies instead, as royal edicts (including the order for eradication issued by Haman) cannot be revoked under Persian law. Petra Jurčová
Petra Jurčová (born 22 June 1987) is a Slovak ice hockey forward and former member of the Slovak national ice hockey team. She represented Slovakia in the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2006 Winter Olympics, at seven IIHF Women's World Championship tournaments at the Top Division through Division II levels, and in the women's ice hockey tournaments at the Winter Universiades in 2009 and 2011. Mariève Provost (born April 15, 1985) is a Canadian women's ice hockey player that competed for the Moncton Blue Eagles women's ice hockey program.
