2011–12 Cardiff City F.C. Season
The 2011–12 season was the 85th season of competitive association football in the Football League played by Cardiff City Football Club. After suffering defeat in the Championship play-off semi-finals to Reading the previous year, Cardiff competed in the second tier of English football for the eighth consecutive year. The season covers the period between 1 July 2011 and 30 June 2012. Malky Mackay was appointed manager at the start of the season and signed 9 players in the summer transfer window ahead of his first season in charge of the club. Cardiff occupied a place in the play-offs for the majority of the season and eventually finished the regular season in sixth position. During the season, Cardiff reached the Football League Cup final, however their first final in the competition ended in defeat against Liverpool. Cardiff (; cy, Caerdydd ) is the capital and largest city of Wales. David Kerslake
David Kerslake (born 19 June 1966) is an English football coach and former player. He was most recently assistant head coach to Michael Appleton at Blackpool. As a player, Kerslake was a right-back who notably played in the Premier League for Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur. He also played in the Football League with Queens Park Rangers, Swindon Town, Ipswich Town and Wycombe Wanderers. He retired with non-league side Canvey Island. He was capped once by England U21. Since retiring, Kerslake has worked as a coach for Northampton Town, Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City. In 2013 he had a brief spell as caretaker manager at Cardiff until the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He went on to work at Gillingham before returning to Northampton Town, where, in 2017, he was temporarily the first-team manager. Paul Wilkinson (footballer)
Paul Wilkinson (born 30 October 1964) is an English former professional footballer and coach. Wilkinson had an 18-year professional playing career that saw make over 650 senior appearances and score more than 150 goals. Since retiring as a player in 2000 he has held a number of development and assistant coaching positions. He was briefly manager of Truro City before being appointed manager of Bury, who were expelled from the English Football League in August 2019. Playing career Wilkinson started his career with Grimsby Town before moving to Everton in March 1985. Dave Jones (footballer, Born 1956)
David Ronald Jones (born 17 August 1956) is an English former footballer and manager who was most recently the manager of Hartlepool United. Jones played for Everton, Coventry and Preston North End as a defender. In 1995, he became the manager of Stockport County, guiding the team to a League Cup semi-final and automatic promotion to the second tier of English football in 1997. He left Stockport to become the manager of Southampton in the Premier League, where he stayed for over 100 games until he was suspended by the club in January 2000 after his arrest on charges of child abuse. The 2012 Football League Cup Final was a football match between Cardiff City and Liverpool on 26 February 2012 at Wembley Stadium, London. It was the final match of the 2011–12 Football League Cup, the 52nd season of the Football League Cup, a football competition for the 92 teams in the Premier League and the Football League. Cardiff were appearing in their first final, while Liverpool were appearing in the final for the eleventh time; they had previously won seven and lost three finals. As Cardiff were in the Football League, they played one more round than Liverpool who received a bye in the first round.
