2011–12 Australian Baseball League Season
The 2011–12 Australian Baseball League season is the second Australian Baseball League (ABL) season, and is being held from 4 November 2011 to 12 February 2012. The season was scheduled to start on 3 November with a single game between the Perth Heat and the Adelaide Bite at Baseball Park in Perth, but the game was postponed due to wet weather. The season consists of six teams competing in a 45-game schedule followed by a three-round postseason to determine the ABL champion. During the regular season, defending champions Perth Heat will participate in the 2011 Asia Series against the champions from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. The 2011–12 champions will likewise qualify for the 2012 Asia Series. At the conclusion of the regular season, the Perth Heat, Melbourne Aces, Adelaide Bite and Sydney Blue Sox progressed to the finals series, while the Brisbane Bandits and Canberra Cavalry were only eliminated from contention on the final day of the season. Timothy Kennelly
Timothy James Kennelly (born 5 December 1986) is an Australian professional baseball player for the Perth Heat of the Australian Baseball League. Primarily an outfielder and third baseman, Kennelly spent a significant portion of his career also at catcher. He is the current all-time hits (426), runs (275), runs batted in (226), plate appearances (1637) and at-bats (1432) leader of the Australian Baseball League as of 1 January 2023. or NPB is the highest level of baseball in Japan. Locally, it is often called , meaning ''Professional Baseball''. Outside Japan, it is often just referred to as "Japanese baseball". 2010–11 Australian Baseball League Season
The 2010–11 Australian Baseball League season was the inaugural Australian Baseball League (ABL) season, and was held from 6 November 2010 to 13 February 2011. It came 12 years after the Australian Baseball League (1989–99), old Australian Baseball League ceased and is the successor of the mostly amateur Claxton Shield competition that has been played since 1934 Claxton Shield, 1934. The season consisted of six teams competing in a 40-game schedule, followed by a three-round finals series to determine the ABL champion. Bye (sports)
In sport, a bye is the preferential status of a player or team that is automatically advanced to the next round of a tournament, without having to play an opponent in an early round. In knockout (elimination) tournaments they can be granted either to reward the highest ranked participant(s) or assigned randomly, to make a working bracket if the number of participants is not a power of two (e.g. 16 or 32). China Baseball League
The China Baseball League (, CBL) was a professional baseball league under the administration of Chinese Baseball Association, founded in 2002. The league suspended operations in 2012 due to financial troubles after the 2011 season, but returned in 2014. The return was mainly funded by entrepreneur and former All Star James Keyte. Keyte the CEO of an established Mandarin Tutoring Company: Manhattan Mandarin wished to revive the league after making it big. His brother Harrison Chilton Keyte is the executive owner of two franchises. Keyte not only is a savior to the league but broke many records while playing. Taiwan Series
Taiwan Series () is the championship series of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). It is usually played in late October or early November, after the regular season. It was formerly known as the ''CPBL Seasonal Championship Series'' (), and was renamed the ''Taiwan Series'' after the merger of the CPBL and the Taiwan Major League in 2003. Qualification Teams play two sixty-game half seasons. The two half-season winners are automatically the number one and two seeds; the one with the better full-season record gains an automatic berth into the best-of-seven Taiwan Series, played in a 2-2-3 format. Chinese Professional Baseball League
The Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL; ) is the top-tier professional baseball league in Taiwan. The league was established in 1989 and played the first season in 1990.
