The 2011–12 Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball season is the 59th season for the league. Preseason The conference hosted its 50th annual media event, "Operation Basketball", on October 19 at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina. At this event, the ACC media votes on how they believe each team will finish in the conference, the preseason All-ACC team, the preseason Player of the Year, and the preseason Rookie of the Year. The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) is a nonprofit organization that regulates student athletics among about 1,100 schools in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. 2011–12 NC State Wolfpack Men's Basketball Team
The 2011–12 NC State Wolfpack men's basketball team represented NC State University in the 2011–12 men's college basketball season. The team was led by Mark Gottfried and played its home games at the RBC Center in Raleigh, NC as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. They finished the season 24-13 overall, 9-7 in ACC play, finishing in a three-way tie for fourth place. As a No. 5 seed in the 2012 ACC men's basketball tournament, they defeated Boston College in the first round and Virginia in the quarterfinals before falling to North Carolina in the semifinals. They received an at large bid to the 2012 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, where they beat San Diego State in the second round and Georgetown in the third round before falling to Kansas in the Sweet Sixteen. Nicholas David Jordan Faust (born February 25, 1993) is an American professional basketball player playing for Amartha Hangtuah of the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL). He played college basketball for Maryland and Long Beach State. College career He played three seasons for the University of Maryland. James Michael Ray McAdoo (born January 4, 1993) is an American professional basketball player for the Sun Rockers Shibuya of the B.League in Japan. Austin James Rivers (born August 1, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for the Minnesota Timberwolves of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Malcolm Grant (born June 21, 1988) is an American professional basketball player currently playing for Shahrdari Qazvin of the Iranian Basketball Super League. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he played high school basketball for Robeson High School before going to The Winchendon School college prep school. John Allen Henson (born December 28, 1990) is an American professional basketball player for Mets de Guaynabo of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN). He played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels, where he was a two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Harrison Bryce Jordan Barnes (born May 30, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The 2011–12 Boston College Eagles men's basketball team represented Boston College in the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Eagles were led by second-year head coach Steve Donahue.
