ROC Air Force
The Republic of China Air Force, retroactively known by its historical name the Chinese Air Force and unofficially referred to as the Taiwanese Air Force, is the military aviation branch of the Republic of China Armed Forces, currently based in Taiwan. The ROCAF was founded in 1920 by the Kuomintang. 2011 Tōhoku Earthquake And Tsunami
The occurred at 14:46 JST (05:46 UTC) on 11 March. The magnitude 9.0–9.1 (M) undersea megathrust earthquake had an epicenter in the Pacific Ocean, east of the Oshika Peninsula of the Tōhoku region, and lasted approximately six minutes, causing a tsunami. It is sometimes known in Japan as the , among other names. The disaster is often referred to in both Japanese and English as simply 3.11 (read in Japanese). Taichung City
Taichung (, Wade–Giles: ''Tʻai²-chung¹'', pinyin: ''Táizhōng''), officially Taichung City, is a special municipality located in central Taiwan. Taichung has approximately 2.8 million residents and is the second most populous city of Taiwan, as well as the most populous city in Central Taiwan. It serves as the core of the Taichung–Changhua metropolitan area, the second largest metropolitan area in Taiwan. New Taipei City
New Taipei City is a special municipality located in northern Taiwan. The city is home to an estimated population of 3,974,683 as of 2022, making it the most populous city of Taiwan, and also the second largest special municipality by area, behind Kaohsiung. Republic Of China Army
The Republic of China Army (ROCA), previously known as the Chinese Nationalist Army or Nationalist Revolutionary Army and unofficially as the Taiwanese Army, is the largest branch of the Republic of China Armed Forces. An estimated 80% of the ROC Army is located on Taiwan, while the remainder are stationed on the Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu, Dongsha and Taiping Islands. Since the Chinese Civil War, no armistice or peace treaty has ever been signed, so as the final line of defense against a possible invasion by the People's Liberation Army (PLA), the primary focus is on defense and counterattack against amphibious assault and urban warfare. Lo Hsieh-che
Major general Lo Hsieh-che () was the head of the electronic communications and information department in the Republic of China Army until his arrest in early 2011 on charges of spying for the People's Republic of China. Lo is reported to be the highest-ranking officer arrested for allegedly spying for China, and thus represents Taiwan's worst espionage case in 50 years. Taiwan military court sentenced Lo to life imprisonment on 26 April 2012. Biography Lo was born in 1959 into a military family. His father is a Chinese veteran and his mother is from Penghu, Taiwan. His parents met and got married when his father was stationed in Penghu. Lo has an elder brother who is also in the military. Major general (abbreviated MG, maj. gen. and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. It is derived from the older rank of sergeant major general. Chang Lien-cheng Saxophone Museum
The Chang Lien-cheng Saxophone Museum () is a saxophone museum and manufacturing company in Houli District, Taichung, Taiwan. History The museum is named after Chang Lien-cheng, a local resident who made the first saxophone in Taiwan on his own. His effort initiated the development of saxophone industries in Taiwan ever since, which is now one of the largest centers of saxophone production in the world. The Chang Lien-cheng Saxophone Museum was then opened on 27 January 2011 by Chang's grandchildren. Architecture The museum was built as a memorial hall previously dedicated to Chang. It is a two-story building with a concert hall and a tourist-friendly factory that allows visitors to see how the instruments are made.
