2011 Women's Six Nations Championship
The 2011 Women's Six Nations Championship, also known as the 2011 RBS Women's 6 Nations due to the tournament's sponsorship by the Royal Bank of Scotland, was the tenth series of the Women's Six Nations Championship, an annual women's rugby union competition between six European rugby union national teams. Matches were held between 4 February and 19 March 2011, on the same weekends as the men's tournament, if not always the same day. The game between England and Scotland on 13 March followed the men's international between the same two nations and was shown live on the BBC. The match between England and France was also shown live on Sky TV in the UK, and France vs Scotland was broadcast live on Orange TV in France. The championship was contested by England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. England were favourites to win the tournament, and their victory was their sixth title in a row. Katy Daley-McLean (born 19 December 1985) is an English retired rugby union player, who captained England Women. She also featured for Loughborough Lightning. Playing career She played for England as captain and at fly-half for the Loughborough Lightning in the Premier 15s. As captain, Daley-McLean led England to victory against Canada in the final of the 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup held in France. She was thereafter bestowed with an MBE in the 2014 New Year Honours. Claire Molloy is an Ireland women's rugby union international from Galway. Molloy represented Ireland at the 2010, 2014 and 2017 Women's Rugby World Cups. At the 2014 tournament she was a member of the Ireland team that defeated New Zealand and she captained Ireland at the 2017 tournament. She represented at the 2010 and 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup, where she was voted the Number 2 position in the WRWC Team of the Tournament. Niamh Kavanagh (born 30 July 1987) is an Irish rugby union player. Biography Kavanagh's rugby career began in 2009 with UL Bohemians R.F.C. while she was studying Law and Tax at the Limerick Institute of Technology. Claire Hodnett is an English rugby union referee and solicitor. She was the first woman to be appointed to the Rugby Football Union's national panel of referees and was the first woman to be a TMO at a men's rugby premiership game. Hodnett was born in Shrewsbury. She played rugby at university level but stopped after having to have two knee operations due to weight issues. She became interested in becoming a referee after seeing a female referee at her local rugby club.
