2011 Women's European Volleyball Championship
The 2011 Women's European Volleyball Championship was the 27th edition of the European Volleyball Championship, organised by Europe's governing volleyball body, the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball. It was hosted in Italy and Serbia from 23 September to 2 October 2011. Qualification Format The tournament was played in two different stages. In the first stage, the sixteen participants were divided in four groups of four teams each. A single round-robin format was played within each group to determine the teams group position, the three best teams of each group (total of 12 teams) progressed to the second stage, with group winners advancing to the quarterfinals while second and third placed advancing to the playoffs. The second stage of the tournament consisted of a single-elimination, with winners advancing to the next round. Nađa Ninković ( sr, Нађа Нинковић; born November 1, 1991) is a professional volleyball player from Serbia, who was a member of the Serbia women's national volleyball team that won the gold medal at the 2011 European Championship in Serbia and Italy. Jelena Nikolić ( sr-cyrl, Јелена Николић; born 13 April 1982) is a retired Serbian volleyball player, playing as a wing-spiker. She was a member of the Women's National Team that won the silver medal at the 2007 European Championship in Belgium and Luxembourg. Career She played for VakıfBank Güneş Sigorta Türk Telekom in Turkey from 2008/2010. With this team Jelena win the 2010–11 CEV Champions League and also winning the "Best Scorer" award. Maja Ognjenović
Maja Ognjenović ( sr-cyrl, Маја Огњеновић; born 6 August 1984) is a Serbian volleyball player and the captain of the Serbia women's national volleyball team. With the national team, she won the gold medal at the 2011 European Championship, silver medal at the 2007 European Championship, bronze medal at the 2006 World Championship. She won the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. In 2018, she has won the gold medal at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship. During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she has won the bronze medal. Career Ognjenović won a gold medal at the 2011 European League, also winning the Best Setter award with her national team. She repeated the individual Best Setter award as her team claimed the bronze medal in the 2012 European League. Tijana Malešević ( sr-cyrl, Тијана Малешевић; born 18 March 1991) is a Serbian volleyball player, who plays for OK Crvena zvezda, and was a member of the Serbia women's national volleyball team that won the gold medal at the 2011 European Championship in Serbia and Italy and 2017 Women's European Volleyball Championship in Azerbaijan and Georgia, and gold medal at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship held in Japan. Nataša Krsmanović ( sr-cyrl, Наташа Крсмановић, born 19 June 1985) is a Serbian volleyball player, who plays as a middle-blocker for Seramiksan in Turkish Women's Volleyball League.
