2011 WPA World Eight-ball Championship
The 2011 WPA World Eight-ball Championship was an eight-ball world championship, organized by the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA), and held 19–26 February 2011 at the Fujairah Exhibition Centre of the Al Diar Siji Hotel in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. A total of 116 players from all of the WPA's six regions participated. The event was won by Dennis Orcollo of the Philippines, who won the event with a 9–2 win in the final over Niels Feijen of the Netherlands. David Alcaide of Spain, and Darren Appleton of England were third and fourth respectively. The total prize money for the event was US$205,000. The event is also referred to as the 2011 Etisalat World 8 Ball Pool Championship, among other variations, for sponsorship purposes. Ruslan Yuryevich Chinakhov (russian: Руслан Юрьевич Чинахов; born 25 January 1992) is a Russian professional primarily nine-ball pool player. Ruslan was the world nine-ball Juniors champion in 2009. Chinakhov has won several events, including the Euro Tour '' Dutch Open 2017'', defeating Christoph Reintjes in the final. Marlon Manalo (born November 27, 1975, in Mandaluyong, Philippines) is a former Filipino professional pool player from Mandaluyong, Philippines. He became the League of Barangays of the Philippines Press Relation Officer and ABC president. Career Originally a snooker player, Manalo has represented the Philippines a number of times in the Asian Games and Southeast Asian Games. Jeffrey "Jeff" de Luna (born February 14, 1984) is a Filipino professional pool player from Manila. During the 2006 Men's World Nine-ball Championship he survived the group stages, the round of 64 and the round of 32, but was eliminated in the round of 16 by Luong Chi Dung. This performance secured him a spot in the 2007 edition of the tournament. At the 2006 Asian Games in Qatar, de Luna made to the final of the nine-ball singles. However, he lost to his compatriot Antonio Gabica in the final and had to settle for a silver medal. Antonio Lining (born May 9, 1963, in Mindoro, Philippines) is a Filipino people, Filipino Pocket billiards, pool player, nicknamed "Nikoy". He is one of the few left-handed Asian players. Lining's most notable appearance was in the Motolite International Nine-ball Tournament in 2000, where he finished second to Francisco Bustamante, having beaten Efren Reyes in the quarter-finals. At the 2002 Busan Asian Games, Lining and Bustamante won the gold medal at the nine-ball doubles event.
