2011 Manitoba Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2011 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Manitoba's women's provincial curling championship, was held January 26–30 in Altona, Manitoba at the Sunflower Gardens Arena. The winning Cathy Overton-Clapham team represented Manitoba at the 2011 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The team went 4-7 in round robin play. Teams The sixteen Manitoba Safeway qualifiers are selected through the 1-9 rural zones, the 10-14 Winnipeg zones, the winning team from the Berth Bonspiel, and the CurlManitoba Women's Bonspiel winner from the previous 2009-2010 season. Altona, Manitoba
Altona is a town in southern Manitoba, Canada, about 100 km south-west of Winnipeg and 158 km north of Grand Forks, North Dakota. The population at the 2011 Census was 4,123 residents. Old Altona was founded in 1880 by Plautdietsch-speaking Mennonites from the Russian Empire. It is surrounded by the Municipality of Rhineland. Much of the surrounding area is devoted to farming and agriculture-based business. History Plautdietsch-speaking Mennonites from Russia began settling in Manitoba from 1874 through 1880 after signing a Privilegium with the Canadian government. The settlers initially were located in the Mennonite Reserve (largely now the Rural Municipality of Hanover). This area, east of the Red River and south of the Seine River, became known as the East Reserve when another block of land west of the Red River, known as the West Reserve was granted for Mennonite settlement in 1876, which included the land to become Altona. Janet Harvey (born March 28, 1967 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian curler. In 1984, Harvey played second for Darcy Kirkness at that year's Canadian Junior Curling Championships. The team won the tournament, however there were no Worlds for women until 1988. In 1986, Harvey returned to the Canadian Juniors as a skip, but lost in the semifinal to Newfoundland's Jill Noseworthy. Kerri Einarson (; born October 3, 1987 as Kerri Flett) is a Canadian Métis curler from Camp Morton, Manitoba, in the Rural Municipality of Gimli. Einarson is the three-time reigning women's national champion in curling, skipping her team to victory at the 2022 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts and the 2020 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. She previously won silver in 2018. She has also won two provincial mixed curling championships in 2010 and 2013.
