2011 FIA GT1 Navarra Round
The 2011 FIA GT1 Navarra round was an auto racing event held at the Circuito de Navarra, Los Arcos, Spain on 1–3 July, and was the sixth round of the 2011 FIA GT1 World Championship season. It was the FIA GT1 World Championship's second race held at the Navarra. The event was supported by the FIA GT3 European Championship and MINI Challenge España. Background After a collision between the two Swiss Racing Team Lamborghini's at the Sachsenring round, the team decided to miss the Navarra round which is the second round in a row they have missed an event. Exim Bank Team China recruited Belgian driver Nico Verdonck for this round, replacing Andreas Zuber. He raced in three race weekends in 2010 for Triple H Team Hegersport. Nick Catsburg returned to GT1 after being replaced by Exim Bank Team China in the previous round. He was behind the wheel of the No. 20 Sumo Power Nissan, replacing Warren Hughes. Circuito De Navarra
Circuito de Navarra is a motorsport race track that opened in June 2010 near Los Arcos in the Navarre region of Northern Spain. It is a permanent road course that hosted the Superleague Formula series and the FIA GT1 World Championship. History The circuit was inaugurated June 19, 2010 with the showing of the MotoGP Inmotec. Its first national test was held on 31 July. On 2–4 May 2014, it was the location of the second weekend of Acceleration 2014, a series of festivals combining top class car and bike racing with music and entertainment. In cycling, the circuit hosted the start of stage 16 of the 2017 Vuelta a España and stage 12 of the 2019 Vuelta a España. Warren Hughes (born 19 January 1969) is a racing driver from Newcastle, England. He has raced in a variety of different series, most notably the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), the FIA GT1 World Championship, the Le Mans Series, the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He won the LMP2 category of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in , driving for RML Group alongside Tommy Erdos and Mike Newton. Clivio Piccione (born February 24, 1984 in Monte Carlo, Monaco) is a Monégasque race car driver. He raced in the 2005 GP2 Series season for the Durango team and David Price Racing for 2006. Career Piccione's career started in karting in 1997, where he stayed until 2001 before moving up to British Formula Ford. Dominik Schwager (born 18 August 1976 in Munich) is a German auto racing driver. Career Schwager's racing career began with karting in Germany, participating in the national championship from 1989 to 1992 before moving to the Junior Karting World Championship in 1993. Markus Winkelhock (born 13 June 1980) is a German professional racing driver. He is the son of Manfred Winkelhock and nephew of Joachim Winkelhock, both of whom were Formula One drivers in the 1980s.
