The 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris, France, from 4 to 6 March 2011. 577 athletes representing 46 countries competed at the championships. Twenty-six track and field events were contested, with the events programme divided equally between the genders. Russia topped the medal table, having won the most gold medals (six), as well as having gained the greatest total with fifteen. The host nation, France, was the next best performing team, with five golds being won by French athletes. Germany had the third highest medal haul, followed by Great Britain. Nils Winter (born 27 March 1977 in Buxtehude) is a German long jumper. He finished seventh at the 2005 European Indoor Athletics Championships and the 2007 European Indoor Athletics Championships. Before this he had competed at the 2003 World Championships in Athletics, 2003 World Championships, 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships, 2004 World Indoor Championships and the 2004 Summer Olympics without reaching the finals. His personal best jump is 8.21 metres, achieved in June 2005 in Bad Langensalza. He has a personal best of 8.21 metres for the event, and also occasionally competes in sprinting events.
