The 2011 Dwars door Vlaanderen was the 66th edition of the Dwars door Vlaanderen cycle race and was held on 23 March 2011. The race started in Roeselare and finished in Waregem. The race was won by Nick Nuyens. Nick Nuyens
Nick Nuyens (born 5 May 1980) is a Belgian former professional road racing cyclist who last rode for in the UCI World Tour. His biggest wins included the semi-classics Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne, Omloop Het Volk, Paris–Brussels and the classic Tour of Flanders. He was a classics rider. His first wife was the Belgian multiple national champion, Evy Van Damme, with whom he had three children. In 2015 he married Lynn Peeters. He retired in 2015 after failing to secure a new contract. Career The year 2011 was a good one for him, since he took the victory on two classics in Flanders. At the end of March, he prevailed in a sprint at the Dwars door Vlaanderen, after desperately trying to steer clear of the group in the last of the race. Baden Cooke
Baden Cooke (born 12 October 1978) is an Australian retired professional racing cyclist, who competed professionally between 2000 and 2013. Early life Born in Benalla, Victoria, Benalla, Victoria, Cooke began competitive cycling at 11. He completed secondary school at Galen College in Wangaratta, Victoria, and was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder. Career His professional career began with the Mercury team in 2000, though he found racing in Europe to be more challenging than initially expected. Nevertheless, he adapted. Dominique Rollin (born 29 October 1982) is a Canadian former professional cyclist. Born in Boucherville, Quebec, Rollin began his professional career in 2001 with the team Sympatico High Speed-Jet Fuel Coffee and again the following year, 2002 with Sympatico Edition Haute Vitese. He then spent three years in France racing as an elite amateur under director-sportif Guy Gallopin for the Roubaix team. After having issues with the way he was treated during Roubaix's transition to a professional team, he returned to North America to ride for the Kodakgallery.com - Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. team. Tom Boonen (; born 15 October 1980) is a Belgian former road bicycle racer, who competed as a professional between 2002 and 2017 for the and teams and a professional racing driver who currently competes in Belcar, having previously competed in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. Leif Hoste (born 17 July 1977) is a retired Belgian professional road racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI Professional Continental Team team . Born in Kortrijk, Hoste's career highlights included winning two stages and the overall title at the 2006 Three Days of De Panne, the 2001, 2006 and 2007 Belgian national time trial championships, and a second-place finish at the 2004, 2006 and 2007 one-day classic Tour of Flanders. At the 2006 Paris–Roubaix, after finishing second, Hoste was disqualified by the race jury for illegally riding through a closed level crossing along with Peter Van Petegem and Vladimir Gusev (who were also disqualified). On 29 March 2013, the Belgian cycling federation began a doping case against Hoste. Marco Marcato (born 11 February 1984) is an Italian former racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI WorldTeam . Career Born in San Donà di Piave, Veneto, Marcato won the Tour de Vendée in 2011, and Paris–Tours in 2012: in the latter of these he took the Ruban Jaune as the holder of the record for the fastest average speed in a race of over , at the time. Waregem (; vls, Woaregem), sometimes known as Waereghem, is a municipality and city located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality lies in the valley of the river Leie, between Kortrijk and Ghent. Roeselare (; french: Roulers, ; West Flemish: ''Roeseloare'') is a Belgian city and municipality in the Flemish province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the city of Roeselare proper and the towns of Beveren, Oekene and Rumbeke.
