2011 CAA Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2011 CAA men's basketball tournament was held March 4–7 at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, VA to crown a champion of the Colonial Athletic Association. Old Dominion, the runner up in the regular season, beat the fourth seeded VCU in the final taking them into the NCAA tournament with conferences automatic bid. Old Dominion, George Mason, and VCU each participated in the NCAA tournament, with George Mason and VCU receiving at large bids. Richmond Coliseum
Richmond Coliseum is a defunct arena located in downtown Richmond, Virginia, with a capacity of 13,500 that was most often used for various large concerts. The arena opened in 1971 and the region is looking to replace the aging facility with a larger one. The arena was quietly shuttered in February 2019 while new proposed replacements are in development. History Until John Paul Jones Arena opened in 2006, the Richmond Coliseum was the largest sports arena in Virginia. The Virginia Commonwealth University Rams men's basketball team played in the arena until the 7,500-seat Siegel Center opened on the VCU campus in 1999. Northeastern Huskies
The Northeastern Huskies are the athletic teams representing Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. They compete in thirteen varsity team sports: men's and women's hockey (in Hockey East); men's baseball, men's and women's basketball, women's field hockey and volleyball, swimming, and men's and women's soccer (in the Colonial Athletic Association), and men's and women's rowing, track and cross-country. The NU mascot is Paws. The school colors are red and black with white trim. The fight song, "All Hail, Northeastern," was composed by Charles A. Pethybridge, Class of 1932. Jamie Skeen
Jamie O'Brien Skeen (born May 2, 1988) is an American professional basketball player for Leuven Bears of the Pro Basketball League. College career Between 2006 and 2008, Skeen played college basketball for Wake Forest. Skeen was declared ineligible for the fall semester of the 2008–09 season for violating the school's academic policy. He informed the team in early December 2008 he would not appeal for reinstatement to the university, and subsequently transferred to VCU. As a senior at VCU in 2010–11, Skeen earned second-team All-CAA, CAA All-Tournament Team, and NABC Division I All-District 10 First Team honors. Cameron Scott "Cam" Long (born December 30, 1988) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Maccabi Rishon LeZion of the Israeli Premier League. A combo guard, he played college basketball for the George Mason University before playing professionally in Lithuania, France, Germany, Romania and Israel. The Hofstra Pride men's basketball team is the basketball team that represents Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, United States. Hofstra played its first game in 1936, and currently competes in the Colonial Athletic Association. Arenas The Hofstra Pride play their games at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. Charles Jenkins (basketball)
Charles T. Jenkins ( sr-cyrl, Чарлс Т. Џенкинс; born February 28, 1989) is an American-born naturalized Serbian professional basketball player for FMP Meridian of the ABA League. He was drafted by the Golden State Warriors in the 2011 NBA draft after finishing his four-year college career with the Hofstra Pride. In addition to being a citizen of the United States, Jenkins also has Serbian citizenship. Bradford Burgess (born April 29, 1990) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Liège Basket of the Pro Basketball League. Born in Midlothian, Virginia, Burgess played four seasons for the VCU Rams team, from 2008 till 2012. His jersey number 20 was retired by the Rams. Hofstra Pride
The Hofstra Pride (formerly the Hofstra Flying Dutchmen) are composed of 17 teams representing Hofstra University in intercollegiate athletics, including men and women’s basketball, cross-country running, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis and track and field. 2010–11 VCU Rams Men's Basketball Team
The 2010–11 VCU Rams men's basketball team represented Virginia Commonwealth University in the Colonial Athletic Association conference during the 2010–11 NCAA Division I men's basketball season.
