2011 Asian Athletics Championships
The 19th Asian Athletics Championships were held in Kobe, Japan between July 7–10, 2011 at the Kobe Universiade Memorial Stadium. The tournament had 507 athletes from forty Asian nations competing in the 42 track and field events over the four-day competition. Two countries dominated the events: the host nation Japan won the most medals at the competition (32 overall, 11 golds), closely followed by China's eleven golds and 27 overall medal haul. The next most successful countries were Bahrain (which won five golds on the track through its former Ethiopian and Kenyan runners) and India, which won twelve medals. A total of eight Championship records were equalled or beaten at the competition. India's Mayookha Johny won the long jump and also broke the Indian record to take bronze in the triple jump. Kobe Universiade Memorial Stadium
is a multi-purpose stadium in Kobe Sports Park, located in Suma-ku, Kobe, Japan. It is currently used mostly for soccer matches. The stadium holds 36,000 people. It was built in 1985 for the 1985 Summer Universiade. It hosted the 2006 61st National Sports Festival of Japan main stadium. Local football club Vissel Kobe play some high attendance matches at the stadium. Japan national football team played some of their home matches here, including a 3-0 win over Hong Kong in a World Cup qualifier in August 1985. Li Ling (pole Vault)
Li Ling (; born 6 July 1989) is a Chinese athlete, who specialises in the pole vault. She competed at the 2006 World Junior Championships, but no-heighted in the final. She achieved indoor and outdoor personal bests in 2008, clearing 4.45 metres indoors in Beijing in February and repeating the feat outdoors two months later in Hangzhou. She represented her country at the 2008 Summer Olympics but her mark of 4.15 m in the qualifying round was not enough to progress to the final. She fared better at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics, but her season's best mark of 4.40 m was ten centimetres off making the final competition. Rachel Isabel Yang Bingjie (Chinese: 杨冰洁，born 28 February 1982) is a Singaporean pole vaulter. Career Yang started pole vaulting in 2006 but suffered a career ending spinal injury in 2009. In 2010, she make an unexpected return, breaking her previous national record of 3.75m with a new mark of 3.81m, making her the first Singaporean to qualify for this event at the Asian Games. Yang briefly retired in 2012 after marrying her coach, David Yeo.
